Throughout theDoom: The Dark Agescampaign, you’re given glimpses of the antagonist, Prince Ahzrak. While he sends his minions to do the dirty work for most of your playtime, he finally challenges you to a one-on-one showdown near the story’s end.

Your first confrontation with Prince Ahzrak comes in Chapter 21, shortly after besting The Old One in your Atlan. He’ll descend from his floating platform, summoning a spear at his side. The boss fight lasts three phases, testing your mastery of The Dark Ages' systems.

Phase One

The first phase is incredibly straightforward. Ahzrak will attempt tostrike you repeatedlywith his spear, all of which are parryable. Wait for his combos to end, thenunload on himwith theSuper Shotgun, rocket launcher, and melee.

If you need a moment to breathe, you can retreat from Ahzrak with relative ease. He may shoot an energy blast at you, but this is easy to deflect given its slow movement speed.

Once you havefilled his stun meter, you’ll have the opportunity toperform a Glory Strike on him. Repeat this process until you deplete Ahzrak’s health bar, and you’ll be greeted by a cutscene.

Phase Two

Realizing you are more of a challenge than he anticipated, the Prince willshed his royal appearance, opening his third eye andsprouting fleshy wings from his back.

Ahzrak will summon four metal pillars out of the ground. They will periodically spew fireballs out of their sides if left unattended, making life a bit more difficult. Destroy them with a shield toss, and you’ll be showered in health pickups.

Other than that, this phase is largely the same as the first. He will be a bit more aggressive, sopay attention to the timing of his swings, which will bea bit faster. Parry his attacks while punishing with your own, and you’ll be moving on to the final bit of the fight.

Final Phase

The last phase opens with you being stabbed by Ahzrak. Seeking to defend the Slayer,Serrat will come flying in from offscreen, blasting fire. Sadly, the Princeimpales Serrat through the neck, killing him. After getting to your feet, it’ll be time to avenge your fallen friend.

Ahzrak starts using a few new techniques at this point. He’llsummon red figuresto encircle you, sending them at you as projectilesone by one.Parrying will drop health itemsfor you to continue the battle. Afterward,Ahzrak will drop from the sky, slamming into the ground. He will besurrounded by blades, which will shoot out around him.

Notably, a few of these blades will be green. If you strafe back and forth, you can parry the green blades to avoid taking any damage.

When you survive that onslaught, he willrevert to attacking with his spear and summoning pillars. Continue tocounterattack after parries, and you’ll defeat the Prince. Unfortunately,he gets away, setting the stage for one final boss encounter.
