The Monster Hunter series revolves around stalking your prey through lush environments, chasing them from area to area while scavenging for natural resources. However, sometimes you just want your quarry to stand their ground, and Capcom developers are more than willing to cater to this playstyle with arena quests.
Introduced toMonster Hunter Wildsin Title Update 1, these missions shed the title’s open-world focus in favor of contained bouts with the titular beasts. While these quests may seem like a walk in the park at first (after all, the monsters can’t run away), you’ll need to adapt to new equipment and skills if you wish to make it out alive.
How To Access Arena Quests
Arena quests can befound in the new Grand Hub area, also introduced in Title Update 1. After speaking with Tetsuzan, you’ll be able to enter the Hub byusing the Peaks Back Gate in Suja.
you’re able to also fast travel directly to the Grand Hub through the map screen.
After arriving, make your way toRicardo at the Arena Quest Counter, positioned in the middle of the Hub. He can be found right next to Lotta, who you can use to start regular missions.Speak with him, and you’ll be able topost an arena battlefor you and your party.
Arena Quests, Explained
Arena quests seem like they would be incredibly easy, considering both you and the monster areconfined to an enclosed space. You won’t be spending any time chasing after them, andthey won’t be able to escape your offensive onslaught.
You can also activate the fence in the middle of the battlefield, butting the area in half and further limiting mobility.
However, you won’t be operating with your normal gear. Arena questsforce you to adopt preset armor and weapon combinationsbefore starting the fight.
Yourpouch will also be completely different, meaning you’llonly have access to the items the game gives you.
Each quest will give you a handful of equipment options; peruse the weapons and skills available to find the best option for you.
