The First Berserker: Khazanis a long, grueling, and enriching adventure. It gives you the complete soulslike treatment with intense boss encounters, thrilling combat, and fantastic exploration that rewards you for checking every nook and cranny. And all of this is present from the very first mission of Khazan’s journey.
Being the first mission, Banished Hero does a fantastic job of introducing the core gameplay elements of the game, with punishing encounters, exhilarating combat, and lots of powerful items you’re able to find by poking around the world and exploring. There’s lots to see and do here, so strap in!
How To Complete Banished Hero
At themission start,Khazan will be battered and beaten and will bemoving extremely slowly,so justhold forward and follow the winding pathwayuntil you see aglowing red lightin the distance. As you approach the red light, a cutscene will play, giving you access to theDual Wieldweapon and activating theBlade Nexus,serving as your checkpoint.
Now that you have your weaponscontinue following the pathwayuntil you run into anImperial Soldierand take them down. From here, you willreach a path that splits off to the left and right,giving you a decision to make. For now, let’stake the rightpath!
Right Pathway
Following theright pathwill lead you to aYeti,which will be apretty challenging fightbut not impossible by any stretch. The best way to deal with it is byReflecting its attacksby perfectly guarding them just before they hit you andpunishing them after they perform heavy attacksthat leave them vulnerable.
With the Yeti defeated, make your way over to theChestand crack it open to receive aHunter’s Ring, Gem Dust, and 960 Gold.From here, you canwalk forward off the cliffsideand land beside theBlade Nexusyou activated earlier, allowing you to level your Stats up!
Left Pathway
Theleft pathis thecritical routeand will lead you totwo Imperial Soldiers.One is aswordsman,and the other anarcher.Fortunately, alarge rock is in the middleof the area, allowing you touse it as coverand deal with the swordsman first. After defeating the swordsman, focus on the archer, thenloot the itemto receive aFire Enhancer!
Continuing Onward
Continue onward, and you will see apoint where you have to drop downto continue. So,drop into the area belowand slowlywalk behind the Soldier to one-hit himwhen you attack. From here,drop even further downto find another Soldier below you and perform aplunging attackto take them out.
Keep following the pathway until yourun into a Soldier with a shield in front of a cave, make quick work of him, and thenhead inside.Once here, you will see acorpseon the ground.Absorbit to receive someLacrima and Soul Tear Dust.An item will be slightly ahead, and to the left, pick it up to receive aVitality Sphere.
Just slightly ahead of the Vitality Sphere will be anotherBlade Nexus,marking anew checkpointin the level and allowing you to level your Stats even further!
Exploring Heinmach
From the Blade Nexus,take the trail to find two paths:one leading to theleft and another to the right.Take the left pathto stumble upon aSoldier kneelingin front of an item.Sneak up behind him and swiftly take him down,then loot the item to receive aConcentrated Fire Essence!
Follow The Right Pathway
Taking theright pathwill lead you totwo Soldiers.One will be anarcher,and the other will have asword and shield.Focus on thearcher first, then finish the otherone off. After you take both Soldiers down,Absorb the corpseto receive a decent chunk ofLacrimaandSoul Tear Dust!
Further Into Heinmach
Push forward andenter a sizable caveto find anImperial Centurionawaiting in the center.This encounter can be challenging,just like the Yeti from earlier, as itrequires you to land Reflectionsbyperfectly guardingincoming attacks, which can be tricky to get. This enemy willleave themselves vulnerable after many attacks,allowing you to take that opportunity to attack.
With the Imperial Centurion defeated, you canexplore the cave further.To theleft of the entrancewill be aChest.Make your way over to it and throw it open to receive anImperial Soldier’s Dual Wield, Hound Pants, and Gem Dust!
Upper Right Section Of The Cave
If you stand from where the entrance is andlook where the Imperial Centurion wasstanding, you will see apathway that leads up to the left and another that leads up to the right.Before continuing your journey, take the pathway to therightto find aTear Summon Stone,an extremely good item, as it recovers the Lacrima from your most recent death!
Upper Left Section Of The Cave
After grabbing your Tear Summon Stone, take theupper left pathwayto find apair of Soldiers.Make quick work of them, and thenlook to the right to find a small holethat leads into an area below. Thehole will be where one of the Soldiers was standingif you’re having trouble locating it.
Drop down into the area belowto find aMysterious Ore. Smash it with your weaponand continue onward. These will be extremely useful later, but you can’t do anything with it at the moment!
Navigating Further Inside
From the Mysterious Ore, drop back down to the central area, thentake the pathway back up to where the guards wereand follow it the entire way through.Loot the purple itemfor aFire Spirit’s Fuel,thenproceed up the spiraling walkway.There will beafew Soldiershere, but they shouldn’t be too much trouble.
With the Soldiers taken care of,continue following the pathwayuntil you reach anotherBlade Nexus,marking yetanother checkpointfor you, allowing you to cash in all the Lacrima you’ve accumulated!
Back Into The Cold
After spending your precious Lacrima at the Blade Nexus, continue until you’refinally back outside.You will see apurple item and a Wild Monkeyin the distance. As youapproach them,theground beneath you will begin the break,soquickly run acrossto the other side.
Once here,approach the Monkey to have another one leap up from the cliffsideand quickly take them out. Loot the purple item to obtain theFire Enhancer,which will come in handy a bit later on!
Navigating The Mountainside
Following that,continue making your way to the rightto run intoanother pair of Wild Monkeysand deal with them the same way you did the others.Navigate the pathway around the large holein the ground until yousee an item on the very edgeof the cliffside.
Grab the item to obtainSoul Tear Dust,thenlook downto see a tree trunk.Drop down onto the tree trunk,thenlook down againto see aWild Monkeyon the ground below. Perform aplunging attackon the Monkey to eliminate it instantly.Beneath this platform will be another oneand a few Wild Monkeys.
Perform a plunging attackon one of the Monkeys and theneliminate the other.There will be anitemyou can loot here, which will give youx2 Fire Resistance Elixirandx3 Stone.From here,continue dropping downuntil you reach solid ground, and pick up theSoul Tear Dustat the bottom!
Trudging Through The Snow
Once you’re finally on solid ground again,follow the path forwarduntil yousee a Yeti walking in the distance.Before engaging with it,take a hard left and follow the elevated pathwaythat leads back to where you came from. There will be anotherMysterious Orehere. Smash it with your weapon.
After this,it’s time to fight the Yeti.This encounter will behandled the same way as the one at the startof the mission, soyou’re more than capable of taking it downnow. After eliminating the Yeti, head toward the far right side of the arena to find a corpse.Absorbit to receiveLacrimaandSoul Tear Dust!
Follow The Left Pathway
From where the corpse was,head to the leftand beginwalking along the cliffside.You will see aSoldier in the distance.Before reaching him, there will be asmall alcove on your leftwith an item. Swoop in, grab theWater Cleanse Potionand proceed toward the Soldier.
As youapproach the Soldier, another one will attempt to ambushyou from the side.Dispatch both Soldiersand continue pushing forward. As youget near the top of the cliffside,anImperial Knightwill be waiting for you and is avery challengingfoe.Create distanceandcharge up your heavy attackto carve off large chunks of its health.
With the Imperial Knight taken care of, proceed to the top of the cliffsideandAbsorbthe body to obtain moreLacrimaandSoul Tear Dust.From here,make your way back to the central hubof the area, where you fought the Yeti!
Upper Right Cliffside
Moving along theupper right pathwayof the cliffside will have you stumble upon apurple item and Wild Monkeyin the distance. However, as youapproach the Wild Monkey,two more will drop in, having you fight three Monkeys simultaneously.
Deal with the three Wild Monkeys,loot the purple item to obtain aFire Spirit’s Fuel,and thencontinue following the pathuntil you reach anotherBlade Nexus.Activate it for anothercheckpointand cash in the boatload of Lacrima you’ve obtained!
The Final Stretch
Headforward from the Blade Nexusand follow the pathway until yourun into a pair of Soldiers.Deal with them andkeep on the pathuntilanother Soldier stumbles around the cornerwith most of his health depleted. Finish him off to see that you caneither keep going straight ahead or go into the cave on the right.Of course, we’re going into the cave first!
Into The Bear’s Den
Head into the cave on your rightand keep walking straight ahead until you run into aWild Bear.As you likely guessed, thisencounter is very difficult,but it shouldn’t be too bad if you’ve taken care of the Yeti and Imperial Knight. The key to victory islanding Reflections and focusing on draining its Stamina Gaugeto exhaust it.
With the Wild Bear defeated, head toward thebackside of the caveto find aChest.Open it up to obtain theImperial Soldier’s Dual Wield, Necklace of Commitment, and Gem Dust.From here, you canexit the caveand follow the critical path!
Almost There
Exit the cave andbegin following the critical pathto run into even moreSoldiers.However, this time,a random Yeti will crash the partyand start attacking them. It will likely eviscerate the Soldiers, so quicklyrun to the right and deal with the archer,as they will focus on you over the Yeti.
After eliminating the archer,focus on the Yetiand take it down like you did the others. From here,follow the narrow pathway up and arounduntil youreach a cart.Interact with the cart tokick it down toward the Blade Nexus,creating a ramp that serves as ashortcut.Spend your accumulated Lacrima and prepare for battle!
Defeat The Yetuga
Finally, yourlast obstaclewill be theYetuga,the mission’sboss encounter.The Yetuga is anoversized Yeti that deals tremendous damage and has many unique moves.This is a pretty challenging encounter, but if you made it this far, you are more than ready to take it down.
