One of the most discouraging parts of starting a mobile game after it’s been out for a while is the struggle to catch up to established players. If you didn’t start playing Pokemon TCG Pocket when it first launched, it can be hard to catch up with players with deeper card pools.
Thankfully, the ex Starter Deck Mission event allows both old and new players a jumpstart, giving you access to a preconstructed deck with a powerful ex Pokemon from Shining Revelry, as well as extra booster packs and an exclusive promo. Here’s what you need to know.

What Are ex Starter Deck Missions?
The ex Starter Deck Mission event is an opportunity tojumpstart your collection and get a head-start on PvP Battles. By completing a couple of simple missions that most players will finish through normal gameplay, you’ll get to choose from nine different decks that each include a powerful ex Pokemon from Shining Revelry.
The ex Starter Deck event runsfrom June 24, 2025, until June 01, 2025, but the event shop will remain open for one extra week to allow you to redeem your Deck Ticket.

ex Starter Deck Event New Items
The ex Starter Deck Mission Event introduces a new currency:Deck Tickets. In this event, you can earn one Deck Ticket, whichcan be redeemed for any deck in the ex Starter Deck Shop. The Deck Ticket is flagged to disappear after the event ends.
You can earn your Event Ticket byopening any five Booster Packsusing Pack Stamina. Packs earned as mission rewards or received as gifts do not count toward this mission.

The other new item is a promotional version of the Cyclizar introduced in Shining Revelry. This version features ashiny Cyclizar, but aside from unique art, it is identical to the version you’ll get from booster packs.

Each deck matches a different type and does a pretty good job of giving you all thePokemon of that type released in Shining Revelry. There are a few gaps, but if you have a favorite type you’ll be able to catch ‘em all in an instant.

Which ex Starter Deck Should You Choose?
The most efficient way to use your Deck Ticket is towait until the event ends and use it to get whichever ex Pokemon you haven’t been able to openin that time. This will prevent you from ending up with five copies of Charizard ex and zero of Giratina ex, while Giratina ex ends up at the top of the meta.
However, if you’re trying to build a deck for the first season ofranked battles, and only need one more copy of a key card, you shouldgrab the Starter Deck that contains the last card that you need. So if you’re only missing one Charizard ex, pick that deck and get on your grind!
