You have plenty of opportunities inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsto infiltrate and loot heavily guarded forts, castles, and even fortresses (yes, there’s an in-game difference). While some of the areas are entirely optional, you’ll be destined to come across Hiraiyama Fort as you hunt down the Shinbakufu, making it a necessary stop on your journey.
Luckily, with only two Samurai Daisho to track down, this area is one of the shorter ones in the game and will make good use of your time if you’re interested in grinding for legendary gear in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Whether for story purposes or hunger for loot, this is everything you’ll need to know about Hiraiyama Fort.

Where Is Hiraiyama Fort?
Head toThe Warfields section of Harima, and carved into the mountains you’ll findHiraiyama Fort.Even though this location seems way out of the way, you’ll find yourself in this area for other reasons if you’re patient enough.
This section of the map is also part of the quest ‘Retrieve the Ox’s invasion plan,’ when you’re hunting Bessho Harumasa.

you may leave this area untouched until that point in your journey, then plunder the fort during that.
How To Find & Assassinate The First Samurai Daisho
Once you arrive at the fort, look to the left, where you’ll see a small wall you can scaleto get into the Fort. Enter this way, then survey the area.
Cross the rooftops silently to the opposite side of a small courtyard, and silently take out the guard watching from above on a ledge. With that guard down, scale some scaffolding toclimb up onto a building.
The first Samurai Daisho is right outsidethe large building you just scaled up to.
The easiest way to get a quick, silent kill on him is to cross over using the wire toward the opposite rooftop.
While on the right side of the wire, toss a Shinobi Bellto distract the guard looking at the Samurai Daisho and his friend.
With that guard distracted, equip your tanto, then jump anddoubleassassinate both the Samurai Daisho and the other personnext to him.
Be quick anddeal with the other guard by assassinating him in the bush,or you’ll have a situation to deal with.
How To Find & Assassinate The Second Samurai Daisho
From the courtyard with the first Daisho, move to the nearby watch tower and quietly assassinate the guard in it, then jump on top to get a better view of the area.
You’ll see the second half of the fort continue further up the mountain.Head to the right sideto progress as there are fewer guards to deal with this way.
First, take out the one guard on the groundworking on some equipment, then scale the wall on the far right. From here, rush to defeat the nearest guard with you on the scaffolding, then take care of the other two guards in this courtyard as you see fit.
Once done, scale the wall to your left, then progress up the path into the next courtyard.
You’ll find the second Samurai Daisho in this courtyard, and you’ll want to enter from the path on the right to use that route to him.
The quickest and quietest path to take here is to:
You should aim to get to the Daisho when they’re just past the bell alert tower, which you should sabotage when convenient.
What Rewards Do You Get From Hiraiyama Fort?
With both Samurai Daisho defeated, the loot of Hiraiyama Fort is yours to claim, including the coveted Legendary Chest that awaits you.
Side Loot
There’s a good deal of side loot to find in Hiraiyama Fort, so we’ve broken it down into a few sections so you can focus on tracking down the loot that sounds most interesting to you.
You shouldtake out the guy standing closest to a shed on the northeastern sideof the fort, then take out the patrolling samurai before he sees you. Circle back and clear out the lone guard standing in front of asmall house with a chest in it.
This door has two blue chests with gear and resources you can smuggle.
There are a few other smaller chests scattered, but these will be the most convenient and worthwhile.
Legendary Chest
You’ll find the red Legendary Chest for the fort in the same house where you find the key to the doors. It includes:
This will be an exceptionally useful Katana for Naoe and is a great reward considering that you only had to defeat two Samurai Daisho to claim it.
