Call of Duty: Black Ops 6kicks off its third season with a new Zombies map. Shattered Veil takes players back to West Virginia once more, this time taking players into the heart of an old mansion and forgotten research facility.
The main easter egg for this map is quite long and is closely tied with the reprised Ray Gun MK II. It also has a tough boss fight that is especially difficult for solo players. The good news is that you may crush this easter egg if you come prepared. Today, we’ll be giving a detailed walkthrough on how to complete the Shattered Veil main easter egg, covering everything from loadout recommendations to exact quest steps.

Loadout Recommendations
Unlike most previous Zombies maps, the loadout you bring into Shattered Veil matters more than usual. Some of the easter egg steps require certain equipment, Field Upgrades, or weapon types to complete. The final boss is also quite challenging, so you’ll want to have most of your perks upgraded before you give this a try.
We’ll be recommending weapons, perk augments, equipment, and Gobblegums for solo players. Those playing with a squad have much more loadout flexibility here; just be sure that at least one member of your squad has any item labeled as mandatory.

LMG
Strong sustained DPS option with the Belt-Fed attachment.
Low mobility, but never has to reload. Great for the final boss.
Required for the easter egg.
High damage and excellent ammo economy.
It should come as no surprise that we’re recommending theASG-89here. It’s the strongest bullet-based weapon in BO6 Zombies and has been indirectly buffed through the return of Double Tap. Dragon’s Breath not only deals a significant amount of damage, but it also lets you pop spores that are tied to the main easter egg, saving you some time.

If you don’t like the ASG or want to mix things up, theGPMG-7is a surprisingly good option here. While it has poor mobility stats due to its archetype, this gun’s Belt-Fed magazine attachment allows you to fire non-stop without having to reload, even after the overheat gauge fills. The final boss has a ton of DR against precision damage, so spray-and-pray weapons work best here.
Of course, you’ll need to use theRay Gun Mark IIto complete the easter egg. You can get this weapon through a short easter egg step or from the Mystery Box. Be sure that at least one member of your squad has this weapon. You’ll need to upgrade the Ray Gun as well to complete certain steps, so if you’re playing with a squad, have each member hold onto one specific Ray Gun variant. If you’re playing solo, be prepared to swap upgrades multiple times.

Doubles your slide distance and speed.
Stamin-Up
Equipment kills double your movement speed for a short duration.
Incredibly useful for the final boss. Use Molotovs or Kazimirs to trigger this.
Vulture Aid
When zombies drop equipment, it’ll heavily bias your current equipment.
Allows Zombies to drop Kazimirs. Amazing when paired with Hot Foot.
Non-critical hits deal 2x damage. Only applies to bullet weapons.
Works with Shotguns, Dragon’s Breath ticks, and slug ammo.
We know we’re suggesting quite a few augments here, but all six upgrades make this easter eggsignificantlyeasier.Tribologistis downright mandatory for higher rounds, turning your slide into a short-range dash you can spam. Paired with PhD Slider, you can get out of sticky situations just by spamming the slide button.

Movement speed is critical to surviving the final boss, so you’ll want to useHot Foot. This doubles your movement speed after you land a kill with your Lethal or Tactical equipment. Molotovs and Kazimir grenades are perfect for triggering this. To ensure you have a stockpile of them, use Vulture Aid’sPicky Eateraugment.
For survivability, you can’t go wrong withDying Wishfrom Quick Revive andHardened Platesfrom Jugger-Nog. The former is a cheat death that you can use up to three times per match. Hardened Plates greatly improves the DR provided by your armor plates. This technically reduces your armor durability, but the damage mitigated more than makes up for it.

Finally, we recommend runningDouble Standardon Double Tap if you’re using the ASG-89. Shotguns don’t deal bonus critical damage in BO6, so this effectively gives you Double Tap 2.0 from Black Ops 3 with zero downside. And yes, this does work with Dragon’s Breath.
Double Impact
If you’re using the GPMG or another rapid-fire primary, run Double Impact instead for a more consistent 50 percent damage buff that stacks with critical damage.
Tactical
Spawns a black hole that pulls zombies inward, instantly killing unarmored targets.
Makes you untargetable for a short duration.
To complete this easter egg,you must bring the Combat Axe and Aether Shroud Field Upgrade. Both are required to complete certain upgrade steps for the Ray Gun Mark II, all of which are required to spawn the final boss.
Your Tactical equipment is completely down to preference. We suggestLT53 Kazimirgrenades for some much-needed crowd control in later rounds. You can craft these at any workbench once the match is started; you can’t spawn with them.

The LT53 Kazimir is required for one of the easter egg steps. You can find one for free in the underground portion of the map.
Idle Eyes
Legendary
Zombies in your field of view stop moving. Lasts 30 seconds.
Perkaholic
Ultra
Grants every perk for free, even perks not on the map.
Forces the Mystery Box to spawn a Wonder Weapon.
Allows you to skip the Ray Gun Mark II easter egg.
Every Gobblegum that works well for high-round strategies is also worth using here.Perkaholicis our main recommendation, especially for solo players. Chewing this will give you every single perk in the game for free. You can either use it right away to speedrun the easter egg steps or hold onto it for the boss, restoring all lost perks if you go down.

Another good option here isWonderbar!, an Ultra Gobblegum that forces the Mystery Box to spawn a Wonder Weapon. You can either get the Wunderwaffe-DG2, an S-tier weapon for crowd control, or the Ray Gun Mark II. You ideally want to pull the Ray Gun Mark II to skip the first part of the easter egg.
If you’re struggling to defeat the final boss, we have some suggestions:

Easter Egg Prerequisites
Before we start covering the easter egg, you’ll need to complete three things first.
Upgrade The Ray Gun Mark II
Now that you have the Ray Gun Mark II, you’ll need to upgrade it to complete the next few steps.Your team must be able to craft all three variants: the MK II-P, MK II-W, and the MK II-R.We’ll be giving a quick synopsis of how to upgrade each. Check out our dedicated upgrade guides if you need a more comprehensive breakdown.
Acquire Canisters
Before you can build any Ray Gun variant, you’ll first need some empty canisters. These are needed to store resonance acquired in certain easter egg steps to forge a specific Ray Gun variant. There arethree canisters in total. You’ll need to acquire all three to build all three variants.
Build The Ray Gun Mark II-P
To start this portion of the easter egg, you must first get an Essence Bomb.Every destructible white crate on the map has a low chance of dropping an Essence Bomb. They spawn all over the map; destroy any you see until it drops. You’ll also needtwo Reflectorsbefore proceeding. You can find them in the following locations:
Once you have the checklist of items, make your way to theService Tunnels (underground D4). You’re looking for a hole in the wall next to the T3 Armor Plate wallbuy. Interact with the wall to plant the Essence Bomb. This will reveal a hidden zone called the Serpent Mound. You’ll need to plant both Reflectors on the lower floor before proceeding. One stand is on the west edge of the room; the other is on the east wall next to the Doppelghast statue.

Make sure to insert your canister into the nearby machine. The quest step will not begin until it is inserted.
When you’re ready, melee the blue crystal near the entrance. This will shine a bright beam of energy that will ricochet around the room. Your goal is to reflect the light so that it hits a Doppelghast statue. Once it does, melee the crystal to summon a Doppelghast elite. Kill the Doppelghast, rearrange the beam, and repeat until all three statues have been activated.
The activation order looks something like this:
Defeating all three Doppelghasts will complete the puzzle, charging the canister you inserted earlier. Take that canister to the crafting bench inDirector’s Quarters (quadrant D3)to craft the Ray Gun Mark II-P.
Build The Ray Gun Mark II-W
Crafting the Ray Gun Mark II-W is fairly straightforward. Insert the canister into the machine near Speed Cola and run down the stairs. An Abomination will spawn near the middle of the zone. Do not kill the Abomination. Your goal is to charge three small rocks that surround the Abomination.Let the Abomination use its breath attack to charge the rock, then let the zombie charge into it.
If done correctly, the rock will begin to float into the air. You’ll need to do this for all three of the small rocks surrounding the circular walkway. Completing this step will cause the device near the center to activate. Defend the device until it’s fully charged. Any Vermin that get near it will deduct progress. This part can get hectic on higher rounds, so don’t be afraid to use your Ray Gun or Field Upgrades to finish this part.
After this step is complete, grab your newly-charged canister and craft the Ray Gun Mark II-W. The bench is located in the underground section next to the exit teleporter.
Build The Ray Gun Mark II-R
The Ray Gun Mark II-R requires you tofind and grow four spore plants in the Observatory (Quadrant C4).You canfind the seeds from glowing spores across the map. They can spawn anywhere with grass, including spawn, the Observatory near Quick Revive, the area near Speed Cola, right outside the mansion, the crates near PhD Flopper, and the area surrounding Double Tap.
You must destroy the spores with the Ray Gun Mark II or an explosive weapon to receive the seeds. If you break it with the wrong weapon, you must wait a round for the spores to respawn.
With all four seeds in hand, head to the Observatory and insert an empty canister in the canister device on the upper floor. You can now plant spore seeds in the four available planters. Interact with the planter to start the defense section. You’ll need todefend the planters against a constant stream of purple-eyed zombies.Once the spore is fully grown, the zombies will stop spawning.
Upon growing all four spores, reclaim the canister from the device. You can now craft the Ray Gun Mark II-R from theworkbench at spawn. Craft the weapon to start the Mark II-R portion of the Sentinel Artifact step.
Charge The Sentinel Artifact
Similar to the Ray Gun upgrades, this step is divided into three parts. You must use each variant of the Ray Gun Mark II to complete a short puzzle. If you’re playing in a squad, we suggest breaking up your squad to complete each step simultaneously. If you’re playing solo, swap your Ray Gun variant to the correct type before completing each step. You can complete these steps in any order;they just all need to be finished before you can start the boss fight.
Ray Gun Mk II-P Step
Bring the Ray Gun MK II-P to theBanquet Hall (quadrant E2).You’ll find a portrait painting directly across from the T3 Armor Vest upgrade.Interact with the computer next to the portrait and eliminate zombies with the MK II-P.It should take roughly a dozen kills to charge the portal. Jump into the newly opened portal, walk towards the dining table, andtake the red-colored glass.
Now that you have a bottle of blood, it’s time to start pouring. Located around the map are three chalices you can fill up with the new bottle you found. This will spawn anElder Disciple.Eliminate the boss to fill the chalice and continue the easter egg. The locations are as follows:
Each cup you fill willreveal a two-digit number in the Banquet Hall.Look at the walls surrounding the elevator to see which numbers you’ve revealed. Filling all three cups will reveal three sets of numbers; record them.
These numbers arecodes for a safe in the West Hallways, next to Death Perception. Insert the numbers you found earlier (ordered left to right, or east ⇾ south ⇾ west) to open the safe. Grab the item inside, then return to the portal you opened earlier.
Inside the Aether realm, walk up to the stone slab and interact with it to deploy the Sentinel Artifact. This will start a boss encounter with an Elder Disciple. The boss will be surrounded by a bubble shield that can only be damaged with the MK II-P. Destroy the shield, damage the boss, and repeat until they’re slain. Grab the artifact when you’re done to complete this step.
Ray Gun Mk II-W Step
Completing this step is a matter of finding some hidden props. Once you get the MK II-W, you’ll want to grab two items for later:
If you haven’t already, upgrade one of your weapons with Brain Rot ammo. You’ll need it for this step.
Travel to the lower level of the Overlook. You’ll notice that the wall on your left has a sconce missing.Place the sconce in the empty socket.A simple pattern minigame will start shortly thereafter. You mustrepeat the order in which the sconces turn on. Wait for the light(s) to flash, run up to the sconce, activate it, and repeat for each sequence. Do this three times correctly to reveal a hidden room.
Yet another portrait can be found in this room, similar to the last Ray Gun step. Interact with the computer next to the painting and start killing zombies with your MK II-W. Hop through the portal, jump back out, and then make your way tothe bar area on the upper floor of the Overlook.
You should see a hologram of a bell on the bar countertop. Interact with it to place the bell you found earlier. You must nowinfluence a zombie with Brain Rot, then ring the bell you just placed.Doing so will cause the zombie to become a bartender and serve you a flask of whiskey. Bring it to the Aether realm you opened earlier.
Back in the Aether, you can now deploy the Sentinel Artifact to start a boss fight. An elite Mauler will spawn that’s surrounded in a blue shield.Damage the shield with the MK II-W to destroy it, making the Mauler vulnerable to damage. You’ll need to repeat this process three times to kill it. Once slain, grab the artifact and exit the portal to finish this easter egg step.
Ray Gun Mk II-R Step
With the MK II-R in hand, make your way to the Library (quadrant F3).You’ll find a portrait of someone on the wall next to a computer. Interact with the computer to start a defense section. You musteliminate zombies with the Ray Gun MK-II R.You only need to kill roughly a dozen zombies to finish this section.
Doing so will open a portal into an alternate dimension. A phantom named Colton will begin spouting dialogue lines about missing objects. The dialogue gives hints as to where you need to look; turn subtitles on to record what they’re saying.
You must have Aether Shroud active for these collectibles to appear. Be sure someone in your squad has it equipped before proceeding.
If no one does, you’re able to switch your Field Upgrade from the pause menu.
You’re looking for three things:
Return to the Library once you’ve found all three items. You should now see three glowing books on the bookshelf directly across from the portal.Interact with each book until one glows blue. You want to activate all three in the correct sequence, although the pattern is random. For our game, it was left ⇾ right ⇾ middle.
If done correctly, one of the shelves will recede into the ground and reveal a hidden room. Head inside and grab the classified documents. you’re able to nowreenter the portal and place the Sentinel Device to start a boss encounter.
This will spawn an Amalgam with a yellow shield. You must destroy the shield with the MK II-R.Once broken, damage the Amalgam with any weapon until the shield is back up. Rinse and repeat until the boss is dead. Grab the Sentinel Device when you’re done to finish the quest step.
Defeat The Z-Rex
With the Sentinel Artifact charged, you are now able to start the final step in this easter egg. Beware thatthis boss fight is incredibly difficult and should not be attempted until you’re absolutely ready.Make sure everyone has T3 Pack-A-Punched weapons at Legendary rarity, every perk, and T3 Armor Vests before attempting this. When you’re ready, place the artifact next to SAM to start the fight.
The final boss of this easter egg is the Z-Rex, a zombified Tyrannosaurus Rex that runs off toxic bile and sheer rage. As with most boss fights in BO6 Zombies, theZ-Rex is broken up into four phases, one for each quarter of its HP bar.
Add Phase
Every 25 percent of the Z-Rex’s HP you remove will start an add phase, giving you some breathing room. Use this time to reload your weapons, restock on ammo, and activate Gobblegums.
Unlike previous maps, the mechanics of this fight remain the same between all four phases; the boss simply gets more aggressive with each stage. The core of this fight is simple:stay away from the Z-Rex, and eliminate the fodder zombies as needed. This boss has an absurdly large health pool, so don’t be afraid to use Wonder Weapons or mag dump into the boss to hit each phase.
The Z-Rex itself has a few notable attacks:
Your main goal is toneverhave direct line of sight with the boss. If it can see you, it will usually charge or leap right on top of you. If you can kite the boss around the nearby boulders, you should be safe until the last phase. For the last 25 percent of its HP, we highly recommend using a Chopper Gunnerto quickly kill it. Beyond that, it’s a simple fight with a fast-moving zombie T-Rex. Keep moving, keep shooting, and avoid direct contact with the boss.
