InThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, the Knights of the Nine expansion features a variety of quests that require you to search for the relics of Pelinal Whitestrake in order to bring down Umaril, who had supposedly returned from the dead.

The Shrine of the Crusader quest takes you to a hidden shrine. The location of which was revealed to you by Pelinal Whitestrake himself in a vision, and now you may find one of his relics to gain the power to finally put an end to Umaril and his evil schemes.

How To Start The Shrine Of The Crusader Quest

to start the Shrine of the Crusader quest, you must firstcomplete the Pilgrimage questand speak to Pelinal Whitestrake in a vision, who willmark a location on your map where you may find his shrine.

The shrine is located southeast of the Imperial City, under the lake surrounding it. You can follow the quest marker to get to the exact location.You’ll have to go under the waterto find the stone door to Vanua, which will lead you to the shrine.

While the shrine is underwater, you don’t necessarily need any equipment that allows you to breathe underwater. If you don’t waste any time, you can get inside the shrine quickly and make your way to the stairs to get out of the water before you run out of air.

The Shrine Of The Crusader Quest Walkthrough

The shrine is full of skeletons. Fortunately, they don’t do a lot of damage and are fairly easy to deal with. As you enter the shrine, you’ll find anAyleid Cask to your right. Loot it and then progress ahead. You’ll encounter a skeleton. There’s a path leading to the right with a dead skeleton on top of a coffin. You can loot it to get aBonemealand a ring.

As you make your way inside Vanua, you’ll encounter multiple skeletons. Keep going straight ahead, you’ll eventually be met with a dead end. You cancheck to your left to spot a glowing button, which can be pressed to open a path.

you may find many Welkynd Stones in this area. You can knock them off their pedestals using a spell or an arrow from a bow. These glowing blue stones can immediately refill your entire magicka pool on use, making them a useful item for magic builds.

You’ll have to go straight ahead from the path that you have just opened. There’s a skeleton here, and after that, you’ll encounter a door. You’ll find another skeleton behind the door. Kill it and progress to thestairs leading upwards to your left.

As you reach upstairs, you’ll find a skeleton. After killing it, you’re able to find an Ayleid Cask on the wall to your right.Loot the cask and progress ahead. There will be a door that you can open to move further into the shrine.

After opening the door, you’ll encounter two skeletons to your left. There’s a hole in the wall here. As you progress through the hole in the wall, you’ll eventually come to thewooden door leading to the Shrine of the Crusader.

Searching For The Helm

As you enter the shrine through the wooden door, you’ll be led through a hole in the wall. There will be a few skeletons here, and no straightforward way to progress. You’ll have to head to the path leading north, andyou’ll find a hole in the wall that you’ll have to jump into.

The hole will lead you to the other side of the shrine,with a dead skeleton lying in the middle of the platform. This skeleton was, in fact, another crusader. There are two locked gates in this area, both of which require a key to open.

You’ll have to search the skeleton. Searching the skeleton will immediatelystart the Priory of the Nine quest, which is the next quest in the Knights of the Nine Expansion.

Additionally, you’ll find Sir Amiel’s Journal, detailing his journey as a crusader, Sir Amiel’s Ring, which will lead you to another relic later on, and Sir Amiel’s key, which isessential for opening the locked gates in the current area.

You’ll also find a Knights of the NineShieldand aFine Steel Longswordnext to the skeleton. Now, after you’ve looted the skeleton, you’ll be able to unlock the two gates. One of which leads you back to Vanua, while the other one leads you further in. you may alsospot the Helm of the Crusader resting on a pedestal on an elevated platform.

you may technically reach the Helm of the Crusader from this area by jumping over the pillars and the ledge on the wall, which will allow you to skip the remaining short part of the dungeon, and you’ll be able to leave the shrine after completing the quest, but you’ll also miss out on some chests.

Reaching The Altar Of The Helm Through The Lost Catacombs

Go through the door that’s on the western wall of the area with Sir Amiel’s skeleton. Defeat the skeleton right in front of you and head for the northwest corner of the room.You’ll find a hole there which can be used to progress ahead. There’s also a door in this room, but it doesn’t lead anywhere.

The hole will take you through a tunnel, leading to another part of the shrine with a few more skeletons. If you go to the south inside this room, you’ll come across a dead end with a chest, whilegoing north will lead you to the door to The Lost Catacombs.

As you enter the catacombs, you’ll find a skeleton right upstairs. Keep progressing ahead andgo through the wooden door. If you keep going straight, you’ll enter a room with two skeletons with a chest in the chamber to the east. After looting the chest, look to the south in the room, and you’ll find a hole in the wall that you can jump into.

This hole will lead you to a corridor with two doors leading back to the shrine. Both doors lead you to the same area,except that the door to the right has a chest on the way. Open the door and look to your left to find the chest. After that, keep progressing ahead until you find a path through the wall to your right.

The tiny path will lead you to the Helm of the Crusader on the altar. You canpick up the helmet to complete the quest. Now, jump back onto the platform where you found Sir Amiel’s skeleton, and leave the dungeon through the gate to the south.

While on your way out,don’t forget to look to your right for a cheston the wall before you open the door to Vanua. After you get back to Vanua, you’ll encounter a few ghosts, which aren’t affected by any melee weapons,so you’ll have to use spells.

Shortly after, you’ll have to jump into the main hall of the shrine, which is exactly where you came from. From here on, you’ll have toswim your way out of the dungeon.
