Spirit-fused fighters are a unique and somewhat macabre subclass option for fighters offered in the Obojima campaign setting supplement forDungeons & Dragons. These fighters inadvertently become vessels for dying spirits, which grants them supernatural abilities far beyond the range of a normal fighter.

Like most subclasses in this campaign setting, the spirit-fused subclass is highly whimsical and can provide veteran D&D players with a fun alternative to some of the other subclasses available in the 2024 Player’s Handbook. Whether you’re playing in the Obojima setting, or bringing this subclass to your normal table, here’s how to build a spirit-fused fighter.

Channel Essence

You can channel spirit energy into your attacks by using a pool of 4d6s, called essence dice.

You may spend a d6 to add to your attack roll, or to add to your damage, with dice resetting on a short or long rest.

Best Species For A Spirit-Fused Fighter

While many species from the 2024 Player’s Handbook might work well for a spirit-fused fighter, you shouldconsider using one of two ancestry options that are unique to the Obojima setting, as they synergize well with this subclass.

Best Backgrounds For A Spirit-Fused Fighter

Though backgrounds in the Obojima campaign setting andthe 2024 Player’s Handbookwork differently from one another, there are two backgrounds from these books that work well with the spirit-fused fighter.
