After you have fought your way throughThe First Berserker: Khazan’s Witch’s Castle stage, you’ll need to face off against the crafty Trokka. Unlike so many of the enemies you’ve fought up to this point, Trokka does not rely on her muscles. Instead, she uses powerful water-based magic.
There’s a good chance that, at first, Trokka is going to seem almost unbeatable. Her spells are extraordinarily damaging, and she’ll constantly be on the other side of the screen. However, we’ll show you how to take the power back and reduce the effectiveness of this witch’s vast array of spells. With our help, what at first appears to be a massive storm will be reduced to a timid drizzle.

Preparation For The Trokka Boss Battle
Trokka is a water mage, so you are going to start by giving yourself the best resistance to water magic possible. You should have obtained theNecklace of Sealed Waterduring your run through the Floodgate section of the Witch’s Castle. Similarly, theRing of Sealed Wateris obtained during the Submerged Village section. Equip both of those to give yourself a high resistance to her magical attack.
Additionally, you need to assure yourself that you have a fewWater Cleansing Potionson hand. While that’s probably enough, you can give yourself a better chance by also drinking a Water Resistance Potion at the beginning of the battle.

Armor choice will depend more on weight than anything else.Stamina maintenance is a huge part of this battle, so you’ll want something that will let you sprint often, as you are going to be chasing Trokka down throughout the battle.
While all three weapon types are going to be viable, it feels like you are really making life hard on yourself if you use the greatsword here. The Dual Wield and Spear options both feature fantastic tools for dealing with Trokka. If you are using the Dualwield weapon, make sure you have theWhirlwind ability equipped,as it is extremely effective here. Additionally, you’ll want theWindcutter skill equipped, as it is great for closing the distance. Additionally, you’ll want that Phantom: Sword Dance buff up as often as possible.

If you are using the Spear, make absolutely sure you have theQuick Slashskill unlocked. This will make disrupting her projectile game a complete breeze, as you can Brink Dodge a single projectile and be up in her face, slashing her with your spear. Also, have the Moonlight stance stuff all maxed out. It just makes stamina management so much easier if you areconstantly entering into the Moonlight Stance. Finally, you want theEagle Wind skill to be maxed outso that it can be in its Projectile Attack form.
Eagle Wind makes disrupting Trokka’s storm attack a breeze.
Disrupting Trokka’s Spells
One of the most important things to note about Trokka’s magic is thatmany of her spells can be disrupted. She can make a large swath of the battlefield inhospitable, making it damaging to set foot on certain parts of the map. Or, you can use yourFlashcutter or Quick Slashattack, zip in, smack her, and stop this nonsense from ever occurring. You can disrupt…
As you may see, that’s a sizable portion of her repertoire, and it includes a few of her most obnoxious attacks. Having the aforementioned attacks that launch you forward quickly really helps, butpositioning is also important.

The projectile attacks are easy enough to disrupt as almost all herprojectile attacks come in threes, which will allow you to Brink Dodge through the first one and then follow-up with a distance-closing attack. If she teleports to the center of the arena, sprint over there, as there is a good chance that she’s going to call forth a storm.
How To Beat Trokka
First and foremost, you will always want to be closing the distance when fighting Trokka. She will give you plenty of opportunities to heal, which is nice. Buthealing is the only reason to ever hang backfor a second. Otherwise, when possible, eliminate the space between the two of you.
Trokka’s primary way of attacking is through long-distance magic. When she summons three water orbs, she’ll fire them off, one after the other, with a delay in between each. When she starts floating up into the air,the second she lands she will send a very fast-moving projectileattack at you. As we mentioned in the previous section, these attacks can be disrupted, so look tododge the first of these projectilesand then rush in with an attack.

When timing her gliding projectile, watch her descent. You’ll see her slowing when she is about to strike. Don’t wait to see the projectile itself: it is nearly unreactable fast.
Obviously, the Dual Wield weapon will be able to utilize the whirlwind skills to leap up and meet her in the air, making the timing easier for this attack.

If she summons ten or so orbs above her head, then she’s going to fire them all off at the same time. They willarc outward and then converge on your locationall at the same time, so just wait for the moment where they are about to hit you, and perform a brink dodge. Then, dash up and lay into her.
Trokka’s Up Close Attacks
While Trokka spends almost all of her time running away, she does have a few attacks she’ll use when forced into close-quarters combat. She will swing her umbrella at you three times, she’ll perform two thrusting attacks, and she’ll perform three upward attacks. None of these sequences are particularly hard to dodge or guard against.
The one parasol attackyou need to be concerned about is when she charges up a lunging attack. This will penetrate your guard, and deal a massive amount of unavoidable damage. you may try to outrun it, but it does have pretty respectable range. So, if you see her charging her parasol, prepare to dodge to the side once she thrusts it forward.

Additionally, she will sometimes teleport to your locations. If the ground under your feet starts glowing, dodge away. She’ll be exploding out of the ground underneath you. She often follows this up with a massive jellyfish attack. Here, she’ll summon giant jellyfish to surround her before they explode soon after. You can either press her here with heavy-hitting attacks, staggering her and disrupting the spell, oryou can dodge away from her and charge and attack of your own.
you’re able to use the Dual Wield’s Whirlwind attack to avoid her exploding move, as if you are off the ground when she explodes out of it, you’ll be safe.

Trokka’s Burst Attack
Trokka’s Burst attack will see her hop up into the air and then lunge forward with her parasol in front of her. This is not a particularly hard attack to dodge, but I’d actually recommend youuse the Counter Attack here.Even if you don’t use it often, this attack gives you a lot of time to prepare for it. And since it will be traveling towards you at a consistent speed, the timing is very easyto get a feel for.
If you spend two skill points, you can unlock the Counterattack: Expert skill. This makes the timing so easy that you would need to be a mile off to miss it.

Trokka’s Aerial Projectile Barrage
Trokka will initiate her second phase with this attack. She’ll start by flying into the air and summoning a massive amount of water orbs, then, she’ll fire this barrage in rapid succession. This flurry of projectiles will consist oftwenty-five orbs, and they will each land without any gaps in between.
The first and last of these projectiles will have a pink hue, and a distinct whistling sound associated with them. The idea here is tododge the first projectile and then just keep running. The rest of them will miss you as you sprint, except, that is, for thelastone (the other pink projectile): you will need toBrink Guard the final projectileinstead.

You should be able to change direction as you are running, without getting hit, so don’t feel as though you need to run in a straight line.
If her projectiles strike a pink jellyfish, it will erupt into a poisonous mist. However, if a projectile strikesa blue jellyfish, your stamina bar will be temporarily enhanced. So, you’ll want to run behind the blue jellyfish to make this happen.
After Trokka has fired two barrages at you,she will fire dozens of arcing projectilesthat will home in on your location. Dodge them just as they converge on you. You will have time toheal in between the second barrage and this homing attack. She will then finish it all off by dive bombing in with her burst attack. Unlike the standard version, this one is harder to counter. It is still possible, butI’d recommend running away and dodging to the side the moment she impactsthe ground.
Trokka’s Second Phase
After Trokka’s barrage attack, she’ll be in her second phase. She’ll get a little more aggressive, using her rushing parasol attack a little more often, and typically following it up with her burst attack. In general, she’ll use her burst attack more often.
Additionally, the projectile attack where she floats around the arena, and launches a projectile once she lands, will change. The floating part stays the same, but the projectile part does more damage now, andthe timing is completely different. You will now want to wait for the projectile to materialize. She will swipe her hand twice. The first makes the projectile appear, and the second launches it. So,time your dodge based on her hand waving.
You’lltypicallyhave to deal with her barrage attack one more time before she dies. So, make peace with that. However, it isn’t enhanced or anything the second time around.
Beyond that, her attacks are a little faster. However, your approach won’t change. Outside of that gliding attack, her moves are largely the same. So, keep pressing her, and disrupting her magic. As long as you keep on her, you’ll crush Trokka in no time.
