Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Editionis filled to the brim with exotic locales to explore, each one filled with more dangerous monsters than the last. But out of all the enemies present throughout Planet Mira, only one of them reigns supreme: the Ruler of Fates, Telethia, the Endbringer.

A clear reference to the Telethia species from the original Xenoblade Chronicles, Telethia, the Endbringer is by far the hardest tyrant to defeat in the game, with tricks and tactics that no other enemy in the game has. This guide will detail the build we used to defeat Telethia, the Endbringer, and how you can do so as well.

Preparation & Making A Build

Before we build our character to take down Mira’s apex predator, we first need to know exactly what we’re up against.Telethia, the Endbringer, is a level 99 Telethia tyrant located in the skies above the Divine Roost area in Noctilum. It is the only naturally spawning Telethia on Mira unless you count the Telethia Plume Global Nemesis battle.

Sportingapproximately ten million HP and nearly 7,000 across all of its attacking stats, Telethia, the Endbringer truly lives up to its moniker, as it will bring anything that challenges it without a strategy to an end within seconds. It also has an annoyingly high evasion stat of over 400, meaning that most of your attacks will miss even if you’re at level 99 yourself.

But just because its stats are through the roof doesn’t mean we can’t fight back. Similar to how we took down Pharsis, the Everqueen,we will be using a potential-based Longsword and Dual Guns build to take this beast down. Unlike Pharsis, however, our strategy this time relies much more on defense, with our Skell playing a pivotal role as well.

Choosing The Right Skell For The Job

One of the key differences between Telethia, the Endbringer, and other monsters of similar strength, like Pharsis, is that the Telethia spawns high in the sky, meaning thatthe beginning of the fight will be fought entirely using your Skell. While it is possible to get the Telethia into a position to fight it on foot during this first part of the battle, we found it’s much easier to simply meet the Telethia on its own turf.

So, if we’re going to spend the first part of this fight in the sky, we’re going to need a Skell that can go toe-to-toe with this thing. Unfortunately, there is no Skell that can tank hits from Telethia straight out of the box. However, with some key augments, we can put a stop to Telethia’s antics before it can even get started.

We chose to use the Ares 90 Skell for this fight,due to the insane power of its Aghasura Cannon attack. Once you’ve created the Ares 90 for yourself,we highly recommend putting SpecUp.ETHER-RES XX augments on every single armor piece of the Aresuntil you have at least 100 ether resistance. During the first phase of the fight against the Telethia, it will only use ether-based attacks, meaning that with 100 ether resistance, it won’t be able to deal any meaningful damage to our Skell.

To ensure that this first phase doesn’t last an eternity and a half, however,we also recommend equipping three Custom.WP-ATK XX augments to your Aghasura Cannon, and maybe a few to your Agni Gatling Gun as well. Equippingone or two Boost.R-ACC XX augments to your Skell frameare also very helpful for dealing with Telethia’s high evasion stat.

Of course, we could have the strongest Skell imaginable, but that won’t mean much if we’re completely defenseless outside of it. Lucky for us, though, our build is even more powerful on foot than it is inside our giant robot.

Ground Gear, Weapons, Arts, And Skills

Much of the setup we’ll be using for our ground gear in this fight is similar to the build we used to defeat Pharsis, the Everqueen. The following table containsall the ground gear that we put on our avatar character for this fight.

Bewitched Glaive: Receding Rust

You can obtain this powerful ether-based longsword bydefeating Lugalbanda, the Wanderer-King inside the Vitriol Cesspool areain Noctilum.

Ultra Nebulan Dyads II

You can obtain these ether-based dual guns byfarming the enemies surrounding Pharsis, the Everqueen inside her arenain Sylvalum.

Ultra Infinite Yii

You canobtain this specific headpiece from Luciel, the Eternal in Primordia. Any level 60 headpiece can have both Potential Up and Potential Boost as inherent traits as well.

Reginal Breaker

This gear can bepurchased from the shop in Armory Alley once you’ve maxed out the Candid & Crediblearms manufacturer at the AM Manager.

Ultra Infinite Yiys L

You canobtain this piece of armor by defeating Luciel, the Eternal. Any level 60 left arm piece can have both Overdrive Count Up and Extend Overdrive as inherent traits.

Reginal Ward R

You canbuy this piece of gear from the shop in Armory Alley after you’ve fully invested in Candid & Credibleat the AM Manager.

Reginal Trudgers

you’re able to obtain this gear bypurchasing it from the Armory Alley shop once you’ve maxed out Candid & Credibleat the AM Manager.

Once you’ve got your gear situated, it’s time to decide which arts you want to bring to the fight. The following table contains the information oneach of the arts we decided to use during this fight.

Ghostwalker

Grants Decoy + Grants total evasion during execution

Thisessentially acts as a dodge button for this fight. Any time the enemy uses a powerful art, use Ghostwalker to dodge it as soon as possible.

Primer

Grants Critical Power + Boosts TP

This acts as our main buff art,increasing our critical damage and granting a small but meaningful amount of TPupon use. Its main purpose is to easily combo into yellow and orange arts during Overdrive.

Executionr

(TP) Deals weapon damage + Boosts damage in ranged combos

This art ismainly used to increase our Overdrive count quickly. It’s definitely the least-used art in this build, but if you need to get your Overdrive count up very quickly, this can be a good last-ditch effort.

Zero Zero

Deals weapon damage + Boosts TP in melee combos

This is our secondary Overdrive count booster art.When combined with melee arts and green arts, it can generate up to 20 Overdrive count from one use, and generate a good amount of TP as well.

True Stream Edge

Deals weapon damage + WITH MORALE: boosts TP

Ourprimary melee art that serves to build TP and Overdrive count at the same time. Using this art and Primer in an alternating fashion can build up an immense amount of TP and Overdrive count.

Blossom Dance

(TP) Deals weapon damage + Inflicts Stagger + Nullifies target’s attribute resistances

This is our primary damage-dealing art. Once you’ve built up your Overdrive count to a high enough number, use Primer, then True Stream Edge, andthen Blossom Dance to get the most amount of damage possible. This can melt the boss’s health bar in seconds.

Magnum Edge

Deals weapon damage + Inflicts Physical Res Down

Our main debuff art that also acts as a strong TP generator when in Overdrive. While not explicitly necessary,it can help generate TP in a pinch since this build relies on TP a lot.

Offensive Stance

(TP) Boosts melee accuracy + Boosts total melee attack + Increases damage taken

This is our main aura for this build.Using this as early as possible into your Overdrive is essential for boosting your accuracyto hit the Telethia consistently, which works even better thanks to some of our equipped skills.

Last but certainly not least, we must put together a good loadout of skills before we take on our foe. Note thatusing the Drifter class gives you access to five skill slots compared to the four slots available on most tertiary classes. The following table contains the skills we equipped for this battle.

Supreme Sword

Boosts damage by +100% when triggering melee combos.

Increases our overall damage output, especially when comboing with Blossom Dance for maximum damage.

Aura Assault

Boosts melee attack and melee accuracy by 30% when you have an aura active.

Furtherboosts our accuracy after using Offensive Stanceto ensure that most of our attacks connect with the enemy.

Secondary Accelerator

Reduces secondary cooldown by 50%.

Most of our arts deal more damage once their secondary and tertiary cooldowns are changed, especially Blossom Dance.This essentially gives us a much faster damage boost to our damaging arts.

Boosts potential by 20%.

Increases the damage of Blossom Dancesince it scales off of our potential stat.

Core Crusher

Ether-attribute attacks cannot damage enemy appendages, but deal +150% primary damage when targeting them.

Provides amajor increase to our overall damage when targeting an enemy appendage. This is the main reason we’re using ether-based weapons for this build.

Once your ultimate build is finally complete, the time has come for us to declare war against Mira’s strongest soldier.

Fighting Telethia, The Endbringer

As we’ve alluded to earlier in this guide, Telethia, the Endbringer is unique compared to most other fights in this game, asit has two distinct phases to its fight. The first phase is fought primarily in the air, while the second phase is fought mostly on the ground. We’ll go over both phases and how to find success in each of them.

Phase One - Skell Combat

Once you’ve made your way to Noctilum’s Divine Roost, fly into the sky until you’re able to lock on to Telethia, the Endbringer. This tyrant isn’t aggressive toward the player at all until they attack, whichgives you the perfect opportunity to open the fight with an Aghasura Cannon blast.

Once the fight begins, Telethia will use one of two arts: Reflect Elements or Reflect Photon.If it uses Reflect Photon, run away as fast as you can, as the battle is essentially lost before it has even begun. Reflect Photon reflects all ether and beam damage dealt to the Telethia back onto the user, which is terrible since Aghasura Cannon and Agni Gatling are both ether-based arts, not to mention our ground weapons are ether-based as well.

When the Telethia eventually decides to be nice and start the fight by using Reflect Elements,which reflects thermal and electric damage, you may start the fight for real this time. From this point, you’re essentially using Agni Gatling and Vajra Flail over and over again until you hopefully activate cockpit time so you can launch another Aghasura Cannon blast.Simply repeat this until the Telethia begins flying downward for phase two.

Phase Two - Overdrive Ground Combat

At around 60 percent health, Telethia, the Endbringer will begin descending toward the ground. During its descent, it will also be immune to all damage. As soon as you see the enemy heading toward the ground,fly downward as fast as you possibly can so that you may reach the ground first. Once you reach the ground, exit your Skell and wait for the Telethia to get within range of your ranged weapon. When you start firing your weapon,it’s time to activate Overdrive.

The Telethia should hit the ground very soon after you activate Overdrive here before it will immediately use an attack called Telethia Zone. This buffs the Telethia with several stat boosts, but if we play our cards right, none of that will matter. Most of the time after this, it will follow up with Telethia Roar.If it does this, use Ghostwalker immediately to dodge this attack, as it has a chance to inflict the Control status, which will take control of your character and prevent you from taking any sort of action.

If you’re able to survive the enemy using Telethia Roar, you should be in pretty good shape for the rest of the fight, which should last about 30 seconds. Simplyalternate between using green arts and orange arts to build your Overdrive count up quickly, while using Ghostwalker any time the Telethia uses a physical art,since those still do lots of damage despite our augments.

Once you get your Overdrive count to at least 50 or so, it’s time to unleash our finishing combo.Start by using Primer, followed by True Stream Edge, and then finish it off with Blossom Dance. You may need to use Blossom Dance more than once to finish it off, but if you’ve done everything right,you should beat the strongest beast in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition in a matter of seconds.
