As you explore the world away from Lumière inClair Obscur: Expedition 33on your way to hunt down the Paintress, you’ll fight plenty of Nevrons looking to kill your party. Most are basic enemies of varying strengths, but every so often, you’ll come across one that far outclasses your normal Nevron.

These are known as Chromatic Nevrons, and each one is responsible for multiple Expeditioner deaths. They wait in secluded locations, surrounded by those they’ve killed in battle, and it’s worth it to seek them out: these Nevrons hold powerful treasures. If you want their rewards and to avenge the fallen, you’ll have to defeat them in battle.

How To Beat The Chromatic Troubadour

The Chromatic Troubadour is a tough boss thatfocuses on single target damage, and ithas two attacksit alternates between:Trumpet Concerto and Tricky Shot.

Between the two, itsmost dangerous attack is Trumpet Concerto, which is athree-hit combothat doesextremely high damage, and canone-shot characters, unless you’re far enough in the game tohave HP above 700 and high Defense.

The Chromatic Troubadouroccasionally gets two turns in a row if you don’t strike first in the overworld and will often attack the same person twiceif it has those double turns.

Tricky Shot doesconsiderably less damagein itsfour-hit combo, but can still kill, especially if you have lower HP.

Start by usingGuard Up with Maelleas soon as she gets a turn to helpreduce the damage you take, and get Lune touse Ice Lance to slowthe Chromatic Troubadour orImmolation to get Burn stacks.

Focus on usingeither Marking Shotfor more damage, orLumière Assault with Gustaveto get Charges for Overcharge quicker, whileMaelle should get into Virtuose Stanceas soon as possible so she canuse Percée or Fleuret Fury to do massive damageto the Chromatic Troubadour.

With Lune, focus on using Immolation to getmore Burn stacksonto the bossfor extra damagein betweenusing Healing Light as needed, but this alsodepends on who the boss targets mostand if she happens to die early.

If you’ve unlocked Fleuret Fury on Maelle, she can do massive damage once she’s in Virtuoso Stance with itand the skill keeps her in that stance for another turn, allowing her to do even more when comboing it with Percèe if you have the AP left.

Overall, prioritize keeping Lune alivesince she’s the only one withparty-specific healing spells, and then eitherMaelle or Gustave, depending onwho’s doing the most damage, while thelast charactercan alternate betweendoing damage and using items.

As areward for beating the Chromatic Troubadour, you’ll get a hefty chunk of EXP,two Chroma Catalysts, five Colour of Lumina, and theTroubadim weapon for Luna, which already comes at Level Four and givesbonuses for her Free Aimas you level it up.

After the battle, head over to thetreasure behind where the bosswas, and you’ll also find theEnergizing BreakPictos, which gives you14 Speed, aseven percent Critical Rate, and the ability toget three AP after Breaking a target.
