While you and the later bosses will be equipped with more Skills and actions, this will serve as an excellent baseline and demonstration of the importance of Stamina.
Before diving into how you can defeat this large frost yeti, here’s what you can expect to receive when you finally slay the beast, which is a pretty decent haul for taking down your first boss!

How To Defeat Yetuga
Despite being thefirst bossyou encounter in The First Berserker: Khazan, theYetugahas asurprising amount of movesat its disposal that will constantly keep you on your feet as you frantically look for an opening to attack. Fortunately, its moves are well-telegraphed,and there aresome moves that leave them temporarily immobile, allowing you to swoop in for big damage!
Yetuga: Big Punch/Uppercut Combo
Thefirst attackthe Yetuga will likely perform is itsBig Punch/Rising Uppercut combo, having it delivera devastating punch with its left armbefore swiftlyfollowing it up with an uppercut with its rightarm. Thefirst punch has a long wind-up,so it’s easy to see coming.
When yousee the Yetuga cock its arm back, wait until themoment you see it begin moving forward, and thenguardto land aperfect Reflection. Then, let go of the guard buttonandimmediately press it againto getanother perfect Reflectionon its follow-up attack!

You can also just guard both of the attacks, but your Stamina Gauge will get tanked as they are massive attacks, so we don’t recommend it. It will be a bit hard to get down at first, but landing perfect Reflections on both of these attacks is the best way to deal with them!
Yetuga: Body Flop
A common move of the Yetuga’s is itsBody Flop, having itraise both its arms high above its head before walking forward briefly while falling forwardin an attempt to crush you with its body. This move ishighly telegraphed,so the moment you see it raise its arms, be prepared to deal with it.
You caneither evade this move with a well-timed dodge,or you can land another Reflection. The moment you see theYetuga begin falling forward, hit theguardbutton to land aperfect Reflection.Otherwise, you canevade behind it when it starts walking forwardto avoid the move altogether!

Yetuga: Boulder Throw
Frequently throughout your encounter, the Yetuga willpunch its hand into the snow and pull out a large ice-covered boulder before hurling it at youwith incredible speed and velocity, making itrelatively tricky to try and evade, especially if you’re already low on Stamina.
However, youcan also land a perfect Reflection on the boulder, and we prefer doing that rather than trying to time a well-timed dodge. When yousee the Yetuga plunge its hand into the snow, stop moving andwait for it to pull the boulder out and begin throwing it.As soon as itsarm moves forward, hit theguardbutton andland aReflectionto evade taking any damage to your HP or Stamina!

Yetuga: Alternating Punches
Another common action of the Yetuga is itsAlternation Punches, having itlaunch a barrage of punches that alternate between its left and right fists. These punches arefast and devastating. There will befour punches total, with thelast one being a sliding punchthat will send it hurtling past you.
Whenever yousee the Yetuga twist its body awayfrom you, these punches are coming. As soon as yousee it begin throwing its body back toward youwith a deadly fist balled up, hit theguardbutton, release it,thenhit it again, then do that once moretoperfectly Reflection all three punchesin rapid succession.

For thefourth punch, there will be aslight delay,so don’t guard immediately, as the Yetuga will perform asmall charging punch. When itraises its arm, guard once more, landing anotherperfect Reflection, sending it flying past you, leaving ittemporarily exhausted.During this state, you canland several uncontested hitson the Yetuga!
Yetuga: Leaping Superman Punch
ItsLeaping Superman Punchis up next, having the Yetugajump high into the air before crashing down with a powerful punchthat will dealtons of damageif it connects. Fortunately, since it’seasily telegraphed, you canconsistently evade the attack, leading to a massive reward.
Wait for the Yetuga to leap into the airand keep an eye out forwhen it begins to descendonto the ground with tremendous force. Themoment you see it start hurtling downward, begin evading away from the blast radius, causing it toget its fist stuck in the snow.It will be stuck for a brief period, allowing you toland several attackson it without any retaliation!
Yetuga: Leaping Grab
Similar to the previous attack, the Yetuga also has aLeaping Grabattack, but it’s easy to tell them apart once you know what to look out for. Firstly, itwon’t leap nearly as highthis time around, making it amuch quicker jump. There will also bespeed lines that appear in the corner of your screen, which is theprimary indicatorthat this attack is coming.
Once you see theYetuga leap into the air, look for the speed linesto appear, thenevade to the left or rightto avoid the attack entirely. Youcannot Reflect or guardagainst this action; if you attempt to do so,you will be grabbed, which leads toMASSIVE damage.Just evade it, reset your Stamina, and prepare for what’s next!
Yetuga: Chest Pounding Swipe
Many times throughout this bout, you will see theYetuga violently pound on its chest. This may seem like there’s an opening, but there isn’t. There never is.Every time the Yetuga does this,it willinstantly follow it up with a Swipe Attack, having itdrag one of its arms across the ground, covering a broad range.
Do not approach the Yetugawhen it’s pounding on its chest.Just keep your distance, wait for it to drag its arm across the ground, andwait for it to perform its next action. It’s not worth the risk!
Yetuga: Finally Staggered
Around this stage of the fight, theYetuga will repeat the moves outlined aboveuntil youdeplete its Stamina Gauge, temporarilystaggering it,allowing you tounleash a barrage of attackson it for big damage. So, after a few more perfect Reflections and attacks, you’re able to unload on it and begin preparing for the next phase!
Yetuga - Phase Two: Charging Roar
During its’second phase,‘whichtypically occurs after you deplete its Stamina Meterfor the first time, the Yetugaincorporates three new moves into its routinewhilerepeating everything we covered above. One of these moves is itsCharging Roar.
For this action, the Yetuga willstand in one spot and let out a loud and ferocious roarbefore charging forward with tremendous speed. As soon as yousee it begin running toward you, evade to the left or rightof it and have it run past you, ultimately having itrun headfirst into the cliffside. The Yetuga will betemporarily stunnedhere, allowing you tounleash a few attackson it!
Yetuga - Phase Two: Large Boulder Leap
Following that, another new action is itsLarge Boulder Leap, where the Yetuga willplunge both of its arms into the groundbefore picking up anenormous ice-covered boulder. After doing this, it willleap extremely high into the air before crashlanding with the boulder, exploding with asizable area of effect.
Out of every move in its arsenal, this is the most annoying to deal with.As soonas it leaps into the air, you’re able to eithertry sprinting to the other side of the arenain an attempt to avoid it altogether,or you can try landing a perfect Reflection. Both are very hard to do, but the Reflection is a tad more consistent!
You can also just guard through this entire move, but it will take a substantial toll on your Stamina Gauge, which could be worth it, depending on your situation. If you have enough Stamina to give, this may be the safest option this late in the encounter if you don’t want to risk dying from it!
Yetuga - Phase Two: Ice Breath Slam
Finally, its last attack is theIce Breath Slam, which isn’t terrible to deal with. The Yetuga kicks off this action bydrawing in the cold air around itselfwith a deep inhale. Then, it willviolently send out a beam of ice, covering the arena with large chunks of ice.
While kind of daunting looking, you canevade through the ice beamwith awell-timed dodge. After it draws in the cold air, wait for it to begin exhaling, thenevade through the beam when it appears, placing youbehind the Yetuga.Once you’re here, you canjust start whaling on it,as its large slam will only affect the area in front of it.
Now, it’sjust a matter of rinsing and repeating everything outlined above until you finally slay the Yetugaonce and for all. It won’t take as long as you think once you get the Reflection windows down and get a feel for when you can attack and punish its moves!
