Don’t worry, The Assassinated Man still involves planning a murder, but this time, your victim won’t be staying dead. Let’s jump into the nitty-gritty and show you how to help your Dark Brotherhood client, Francois Motierre, fake his demise.

How To Start The Assassinated Man

With the Scheduled For Execution contract complete,speak to Vicente Valtieri again to learn about a special request he only wants to give you.

Valtieri tells you about the assassination of Francois Motierre, which the Dark Brotherhood will help stage.

You are tomeet Motierre and pretend to kill him in front of a bounty huntersent to collect a price on his head. However, you mustleave the assassin coming to collect Motierre’s bounty alive,so they can spread word of Motierre’s death.

With the details clarified, Vicente sends you off with a special poisonedLangourwine Blade and an Antidoteto complete the contract.

When this blade is used once to complete the contract, it will lose its special properties.

You may ask your fellow Dark Brotherhood members for more help, and once you’re ready, head to Chorrol tobegin The Assassinated Man.

How To Fake Francois Motierre’s Death

Once in Chorrol, make your way to Francois Motierre’s large abodenear the large tree courtyard in the center of town.

A Hard Lock protects his house,so you’ll need plenty of patience and skill to break in and talk to Francois Motierre.

You will not be charged with a crime for breaking into his house.

Once inside,equip your Langourwine Blade and speak with Francois Motierreabout the contract.

Motierre will explain the situation again and tell you about the assassin named Hides-His-Heart, who is on his way to collect the debt Motierre owes.

Remember, Hides-His-Heart must live, or you will fail the contract.

After Motierre lays out the entire plan, prepare for some A-list acting and position yourself between Motierre and the door for a quick escape.

Ready your Langourwine Bladeto strike true on Motierre, and once the conversation plays out,pretend to kill Motierre with it.

With Motierre’s death faked, flee the house and the cityquickly to avoid accidentally killing Hides-His-Heart, who must survive.

The best way to do this is to dash to the North Gate directly ahead of Motierre’s front door. When you exit the gate, the quest will advance.

Escape The Undercroft

Wait 24 hours(or more), then head to theUndercroft in the Chapel of Stendarr,where Motierre’s body is on display.

Approach Motierre’s body andadminister the Langourwine Antidoteto him, bringing our Z-list actor friend Francois back from the dead.

Speak with Francois Motierre, who admits that his dead relatives buried here won’t appreciate this desecration, andyou’re attacked by their undead guardians.

Defeat the Motierre Zombiesthat appear andescort Motierreout of the Undercroft andto the Gray Mare across town.

Follow the street southeast past Chorrol’s South Gate andenter The Gray Mare, then talk to Francois,who thanks you, and says he can arrange travel out of town from here.
