The world of Planet Mira inXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Editionis incredibly vast and filled to the brim with things to do. While the sheer amount of content may seem daunting at first, the game does split up many of its tasks into segments that you may view on the world map.
Each of these segments has a unique task corresponding to that area of the map, whether it be finding a treasure, defeating a tyrant, or completing a side mission. This guide will detail how to complete every segment recon task in Primordia to help you achieve a 100 percent survey rate of the region.
These segment tasks can belocked behind story content, so there are potential story spoilers in this guide. While you will likely complete a decent bit of the segment recon as you play through the main story, we recommend waiting until you’ve finished up through Chapter 12 of the main story before focusing on survey completion for each region.
FrontierNav Site 101
For this guide, we’re going to start by detailing the location of a probe for you to place, followed by the adjacent segments unlocked after placing down said probe.
To place a probe at FN Site 101,you’ll need to head northeast of Stickstone Rise. You can get there earlier in the game by doing some tricky platforming across the cliffs, though this is much easier if you have a Skell. You can alsocompletely skip this platforming if you’ve obtained the Skell Flight Module.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Caesar, the Hundred Eyed
To the northwest of FN Site 101 is the segment recon for Caesar, the Hundred-Eyed, a level 68 Petramand tyrant thatyou can find inside Stonelattice Cavern. In order to get to this area, you will need to have the Skell Flight Module, which you can use to enter a smoking cave just off the side of the cliff from FN Site 101.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Snipe Hunt
To the southwest of FN Site 101 is the segment recon for the normal mission Snipe Hunt. To accept this quest, you must have completed Chapter 12 of the main story. From there,speak to Bihabba on the deck of the Ma-non ship to begin the quest. Finishing this quest will complete this segment on the map.
Segment Recon - Treasure: Alien Container
Directly south of FN Site 101 is an alien container needed for segment recon.You can find this container within Bedrock Hold, which also has a fast-travel point within this segment.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: The Queen Is Dead
To the southeast of FN Site 101 is the segment recon for the normal mission titled The Queen Is Dead. To unlock this mission,you must have completed the affinity mission A Challenger Approaches, which also unlocks Ga Jiarg as a party member. Once you’ve completed that mission, head over to the Wrothian Stronghold in Oblivia to accept this quest.
FrontierNav Site 102
you may find FN Site 102 inthe Starfall Basin area, the same place that you woke up at the very beginning of the game. There are only two adjacent segments to this probe to go over.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: The Repair Job
The segment to the north of FN Site 102 is tied to the affinity mission titled The Repair Job. This is Lin’s first affinity mission, whichyou can accept after reaching one heart of affinity with Linand completing Chapter 3 of the main story.
Segment Recon - Treasure: Vehicle Wreckage
To the northeast of FN Site 102 is a segment with some vehicle wreckage.You can find this near the Shadow Rise landmark.
FrontierNav Site 103
FN Site 103 is located just outside the entrance to Noctilum. You should find this one pretty easily during the main story, asChapter 4 takes you right to that pointin order to meet Lao for the first time.
Segment Recon - Treasure: Skell Wreckage
There’s a bit of Skell Wreckage to the northwest of FN Site 103. You can find thisnear the scenic viewpoint that Liesel takes you to during her first affinity mission.
Segment Recon - Treasure: Strange Insect Nest
You can find a Strange Insect Nestnear the Greater Gemini Bridge landmark to the northeast of FN Site 103.
There’s someSkell Wreckage to the south of FN Site 103.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Zdenka, The Raucous
To the southeast of FN Site 103, you can find the tyrant Zdenka, the Raucous. This is a level 60 Saltat tyrantthat sits on top of a spire, so you’ll need the Skell Flight Module.
FrontierNav Site 104
You can find FN Site 104at the southern end of Bianho Lake. This one is available as soon as you have proper access to the open world.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Celestin, The Spring Storm
To the northwest of FN Site 104 is the Headwater Summit landmark, home of the tyrant Celestin, the Spring Storm. This is alevel 50 Progen enemy that always spawns here regardless of the weather, so be sure you’re properly equipped before taking it on.
Segment Recon - Treasure: White Whale Debris
Just north of FN Site 104 is a piece of White Whale Debristhat is required for segment recon in this area.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Haywire!
The segment to the northeast of FN Site 104 corresponds to the normal mission titled Haywire! This quest becomes availableafter completing Chapter 9 of the main storyand comes at the end of a very long quest chain, which consists of the following quests in order.
Once you’ve completed all of those quests,head to the Bianho Water Purification Plant and talk to Rosieto begin this quest.
There’sa piece of White Whale Debris to the southeastof FN Site 104. Finding and scanning it will complete this segment.
FrontierNav Site 105
You can find FN Site 105directly east of where you found FN Site 101. Similar to FN Site 101, you can get to FN Site 105 by doing some tricky platforming on foot, which is made easier by Skell, oryou can skip that entirely by using the Skell Flight Module.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Sapara, The Laconic
In the segment south of FN Site 105 you can find the Saltat tyrant known as Sapara, the Laconic. This enemy is level 22 andrarely appears among a group of Saltat near Unicorn Rock. If Sapara doesn’t appear to you at first, simplyfast travel to the nearest landmark and return to their locationuntil Sapara shows up.
FrontierNav Site 106
you’re able to find FN Site 106over on Fallshorn Isle, just across the bridge south of Bianho Grassland. Be careful, as there are level 40 Lawless Grexes blocking the path. Thankfully, if you run past them fast enough,you’ll unlock the Fallshorn Isle landmark and respawn there when you die, allowing you to continue to the probe site.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: A Day In The Life
The segment just to the north of Fn Site 106 is tied to the affinity mission called A Day In The Life. You can unlock this missiononce you’ve completed Chapter 4 of the main story, and have reached at least level 16.
Justnortheast of FN Site 106 is a pile of Skell Wreckage, for which scanning will complete this segment.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Cinicula Assault
The segment southeast of FN Site 106 is tied to the normal mission Cinicula Assault. you’re able to only accept this questafter completing its prerequisite quest, titled Welcome Back, Connor. Once you’ve completed that, head over to Connor near Sickle Rock Rise in Primordia to begin this quest.
FrontierNav Site 107
You can find FN Site 107on a beach just south of the Grieving Plains landmark.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Forbidden Love
The segment to the southwest of FN Site 107 is tied to the normal mission Forbidden Love. This mission islocked behind the completion of the Prone Sweet Prone mission, which invites the Prone Tree Clan into New Los Angeles. Once you’ve done that,talk to Loda Gorida in the port side of the Ma-non shipto accept this mission.
Segment Recon - Treasure: Patrol Chopper Wreckage
South of FN Site 107 you canfind some Patrol Chopper Wreckage on a nearby island.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: Renewed Will
The segment north of FN Site 107 corresponds to the affinity mission Renewed Will. The only prerequisites to accepting this mission are thatyou must complete Chapter 3 of the main story and you must be at least level 15. Once you’ve done that, head to Central Melville Street to begin the mission.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Casper, The Unhealthy Eater
To the northeast of FN Site 107 is the segment corresponding to Casper, the Unhealthy Eater. This is a level 13 blatta tyrant that can be found just outside the west gate of New Los Angeles.You can find it underneath some of the crystals jutting out from the side of the city.
FrontierNav Site 108
you may find FN Site 108 just northeast of the Plundered Ruin landmark.You’ll have to climb a few cliffs and get past some high-level enemies, but with a Skell or the Skell Flight Module, this should be no problem for you.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Bohdan, The Mistral
Northwest of FN Site 108 is another tyrant you need to kill, this one being named Bodhan, the Mistral. This one is a level 37 Auravis thatonly appears during the daytime, circling a tall spire near Unicorn Rock. You’ll need the Skell Flight Module to reach this monster quickly and easily.
There’s some White Whale Debris just north of FN Site 108,located along the beach in this segment.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Necro, The Cavelord
To the northeast of FN Site 108 is the Vesper tyrant Necro, the Cavelord. To find this monster,head over to the Drop Shaft landmark and jump down to the bottom of the hole. Once you’re down there, you should see several Vesper enemies all grouped together, among which is your target. Take him out to complete this segment.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Expertimental Composite Qmoeva
Southeast of FN Site 108 is another tyrant, this one being called the Experimental Composite Qmoeva.You can find this level 59 Qmoeva tyrant on top of Talon Rock during the night. You’ll also need the Skell Flight Module to make it up there in the first place.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: The Lurker
The segment located directly south of FN Site 108 is tied to the normal mission titled The Lurker. To accept this quest, you must have completed Chapter 12 of the main story, andalso completed the quests The Duel (Part I), The Duel (Part II), The Duel (Part III), and The Duel (Part IV). Once you’ve done that, talk to Go Rogan on the deck of the Ma-non Ship in New Los Angeles.
FrontierNav Site 109
You can find FN Site 109on a raised island area to the west of the Ardent Bridge landmark. You will need the Skell Flight Module to access this probe site, as jumping out of a sprint from your Skell does not give you enough distance to make the jump without being able to fly.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Ridill, The Arrogant
To the north of FN Site 109 is another segment tied to a tyrant. This one is linked to a level 58 Lophid tyrant called Ridill, the Arrogant,who rarely appears in the waters just north of FN Site 109. If this enemy doesn’t appear to you at first, simply fast-travel back to FN Site 109 and look for it again in the same location.
FrontierNav Site 110
You can only access FN Site 110 if you have the Skell Flight Module, as it sits at the very top of Talon Rock. Thankfully,placing down this probe is a key part of the affinity mission A Girl’s Wings, which is how you unlock the Skell Flight Module in the first place.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Eckart, The Indestructible
The segment to the southwest of FN Site 110 corresponds to a level 50 Cinicula tyrant called Eckart, the Indestructible.You can find this tyrant on the raised land mass north of the West Gate Plain landmark. He will only appear if you approach his location.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: City Saviors
To complete the segment located south of FN Site 110, you need to complete the normal mission titled City Saviors. The only prerequisites to accepting this quest are to havecompleted Chapter 3 of the main story and to have surveyed at least 15 percent of Primordia. Once you’ve done that, talk to Carl in the Administrative District of New Los Angeles to accept the quest.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Dieter, The Epicure
To the southeast of FN Site 110 is another tyrant segment, this one being home to a level 39 Grex tyrant called Dieter, the Epicure. You can find this tyranton the raised bit of land directly above the Beasts' Lair landmark.
There is someWhite Whale Debris in the segment northeast of FN Site 110. Finding and scanning this object is all you need to do to complete this bit of segment recon.
FrontierNav Site 111
you may find FN Site 111 byheading northwest along the beach, starting from the Northpointe Beach landmark.
you’re able to find a treasure site for somePatrol Chopper Wreckage to the northeast of FN Site 111.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: The Good Thief
The segment to the southeast of FN Site 111 is tied to the normal mission, The Good Thief. To accept this mission, you must have first completed the following quests.
Once those quests are done,talk to Horonalderon in the Industrial District of New Los Angelesto begin this mission.
Segment Recon - Treasure: Alien Wreckage
You can find some Alien Wreckage in the segment just south of FN Site 111.This object is located near the Drop Shaft landmark.
FrontierNav Site 112
you’re able to find FN Site 112 to theeast of the Beast’s Lair landmark, right near the middle of the Savram Northeast Plain.
Just north of FN Site 112is a segment tied to a piece of White Whale Debris.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Shatskikh, The Flash
To the northeast of FN Site 112 is a segment corresponding to a level 25 Xiphias tyrant called Shatskikh, the Flash.You can find this tyrant rarely right next to the Northpointe Cove landmark. If it doesn’t appear to you the first time you travel there, simply fast travel back to the neareast landmark and check again until it appears.
This tyrant isalso the target of one of the proficiency tests to earn your first Skell, so you may already have this segment completed.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Welcome Back, Conner
The segment to the southeast of FN Site 112 corresponds to the normal mission titled Welcome Back, Conner. This is one of the first side quests available to you as soon as you’ve completed Chapter 2 of the main story, with no other prerequisites.To accept this quest, simply talk to Nathan over by the East Gate Plain in Primordia.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Mesgen, The Fairweathered
In the segment directly south of FN Site 112 is the tyrant Mesgen, the Fairweathered. This level 28 Potamus tyrantcan always be found at the far east end of Sayram Lake.
FrontierNav Site 113
you may activate FN Site 113 byjumping down to the beach located on the same island as Castaway Cavern, all the way at the northernmost point of Primordia.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Daril, The Eradicator
Right next to the Castaway Cavern landmarkis Daril, the Eradicator, a level 28 Marnuck tyrant that corresponds to the segment to the southwest of FN Site 113. This tyrantonly appears at night and is also guarded by two level 40 Marnuck Sentinels.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Close Encounters
The segment located directly south of FN Site 113 is tied to the normal mission Close Encounters. To accept this quest, all you need to do iscomplete Chapter 6 of the main story and then talk to Sarona in the Administrative District of New Los Angeles.
FrontierNav Site 114
You can find the site for FN Site 114directly south of the Sickle Rock Rise landmark and directly west of the Roof Rock landmark.
There’s someAlien Wreckage to the northeast of FN Site 114that is necessary for this bit of segment recon.
To thesoutheast of FN Site 114 is some Vehicle Wreckagethat, once scanned, will complete this segment.
FrontierNav Site 115
You can find FN Site 115directly east of the Northpointe Cove landmark. Simply follow the beach east and you’ll find it pretty easily.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: Nagi’s Time
The segment to the northwest of FN Site 115 is tied to the affinity mission Nagi’s Time.You can accept this mission as soon as you’ve completed Chapter 8 of the main story. Completing this quest will not only complete this segment but will also unlock Secretary Nagi as a party member.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Here Come The Brides
Just south of FN Site 115 is a segment tied to the normal mission Here Come The Brides. To accept this mission,you must have first completed the normal mission, Prone Sweet Prone, which moves the Tree Clan Prone into New Los Angeles. Once you’ve done that,talk to Nemard Wolfen on the Ma-non Ship to begin this quest.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: We Were Soldiers
To the northeast of FN Site 115 is a segment tied to the affinity mission We Were Soldiers. The only prerequisites to accept this quest are tohave at least one heart of affinity with Elma and to complete Chapter 3 of the main story. Once that’s done, head to the B.L.A.D.E. Barracks to begin this mission.
There’s someWhite Whale Debris located in the segment southeast of FN Site 115, the collection of which will complete said segment.
FrontierNav Site 116
You can find FN Site 116directly south of the Roof Rock landmark in Primordia. This will be the first probe you place in the game, as placing it is a key objective in Chapter 2 of the main story.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: An Ancient Legend
The segment to the southwest of FN Site 116, just outside the east gate to New Los Angeles, corresponds to the normal mission titled An Ancient Legend. To accept this mission, you first complete the following quests.
Once you’ve completed those quests,talk to Nimu Turton on the Ma-non Ship to begin this mission.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Hephaestus, The Absconder
The segment located directly north of FN Site 116 is tied to the tyrant Hephaestus, the Absconder. This level 25 Duogill tyrantcan be found just north of the Roof Rock landmark during the night.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: Nine Lives
To the northeast of FN Site 116 is a segment corresponding to the affinity mission titled Nine Lives. To accept this mission,you must first complete Chapter 5 of the main story and then head to Barista Court in the Commercial District of New Los Angelesto begin the quest. Completing this quest will also unlock the ability to have animals inside the B.L.A.D.E. Barracks.
There’s some Alien Wreckage in the segment to the southeast of FN Site 116 in Primordia. You can find iton a cliff just across from Cliffside Beach, near Seaswept Rise.
FrontierNav Site 117
You can find FN Site 117 locatedon the west coast of Janpath Lake in Primordia. The tyrant Luciel, the Eternal is also patrolling this area, so be careful when wandering around here.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Etutanne, The Bloodthirsty
To the northwest of FN Site 117 is a segment tied to the tyrant known as Etutanne, the Bloodthirsty. This is a level 33 Adsecula tyrant thatflies around near the Silent Mire landmark.
The segmentdirectly north of FN Site 117 has a piece of White Whale Debristhat is necessary for the survey completion of this segment.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Gugli, The Relentless
At the northern end of Janpath Lake and to the northeast of FN Site 117is the level 20 Suid tyrant known as Gugli, the Relentless.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Luciel, The Eternal
Patrolling the area to the southeast of FN Site 117is one of the highest-level tyrants in the game, Luciel, the Eternal. This level 92 Milesaur tyrant is hard to miss as it wanders around the area near the Janpath Lake landmark. It can deal a lot of damage very quickly, so be sure you’re prepared if you’re going to take it on.
FrontierNav Site 118
You can find FN Site 118tucked away inside a small cave at the northern end of Janpath Lake. The easiest way to get there would be tohead to the northern part of Janpath Lake, just past Gugli, the Relentless, then follow the path up the mountainthat leads directly to the cave.
In the segment to thenorthwest of FN Site 118 is a piece of White Whale Debristhat is necessary for survey completion for this segment.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Muimui’s Meltdown
The segment to the north of FN Site 118 is tied to the normal mission known as Muimui’s Meltdown. To accept this quest, you must first complete the following missions.
Once you’ve completed those prerequisites,talk to Moimoi near the West Gate in the Industrial District of New Los Angelesto begin this mission.
The segment to thenortheast of FN Site 118 is tied to a piece of Alien Wreckagethat must be scanned to complete this bit of survey recon.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Stop, Thief!
The segment to the southeast of FN Site 118 corresponds to the normal mission titled Stop, Thief! To accept this mission, you must first take care of the following prerequisites.
Once you’ve completed these prerequisites,talk to Shiraton in the Commercial District of New Los Angelesto begin this mission.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: Training Day
The segment located directly south of FN Site 118 is tied to the normal mission called Training Day. To accept this mission,you must first complete the quest Prone Sweet Prone. Once you’ve done that,talk to Zarch Quokett on the Ma-non Shipto begin this mission.
FrontierNav Site 119
You can find FN Site 119just past the entrance to the Seaswept Base area. You’ll visit this place during the events of Chapter 3 of the main story, so if you haven’t already gotten to it by that point, now would be a good time to grab it.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Ji-ett, The Thunderclap
In the skies to the northeast of FN Site 119 you can find the tyrant known as Ji-ett, the Thunderclap. This level 72 Fal-swo tyrantonly appears at nighttime, while flying above the mountain next to the Seaswept Base area.
Segment Recon - Affinity Mission: A False Hope
The segment directly north of FN Site 119 is tied to the affinity mission, A False Hope. To access this mission,you must first complete Chapter 5 of the main story and have at least two hearts of affinity with Hope. Once you’ve done that,head just south of B.L.A.D.E. Tower in the Administrative District of New Los Angelesto begin the mission.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Eutropio, The Sea Rumble
To the northwest of FN Site 119 is another tyrant, this one known as Eutropio, the Sea Rumble. This level 45 Leviath tyrantcan be found flying around the Seaswept Rise areajust west of the FN Site 119 landmark.
Segment Recon - Normal Mission: A Dubious Operation
The segment to the southwest of FN Site 119 corresponds to the normal mission titled A Dubious Operation. To access this mission,you must first complete Chapter 7 of the main story and also complete the normal mission titled Dead Men Tell No Tales. Once you’ve done that,talk to Shiraton near West Melville Street in the Commercial District of New Los Angelesto begin this mission.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Bogdan, The Dense
Directly south of FN Site 119 is one last tyrant, this one named Bogdan, the Dense.You can find this level 49 Suid tyrant at any time inside the Prone camp at Seaswept Base, accompanied by a level 43 Prone Trainer enemy as well.
FrontierNav Site 120
You can find FN Site 120on the beach in the area between East Janpath Plain and South Janpath Plain.
Segment Recon - Tyrant: Rajidi, The Cumuliform
The final tyrant necessary for Primordia Segment Recon is located to the northeast of FN Site 120 and is known as Rajidi, the Cumuliform. This level 52 Balaena tyrantcan rarely be found flying near a rocky spire island to the northeast of the FN Site 120 landmark. If this tyrant doesn’t appear to you initially, simply fast-travel back to the nearest landmark and check again until it shows up.
FrontierNav Site 121
The final probe site in Primodria, FN Site 121,can be found at the western end of the land bridge that connects Primordia and Oblivia. Since Chapter 5 of the main story takes you to Oblivia for the first time, you’ll likely place this probe while you’re on your way there.
