Like most Daedric artifacts, themace of Molag Balrequires you to take a quest for the Daedric prince. To do that, you’ll also need to know where the shrine is and what the prerequisites for the quest are.
How To Start The Molag Bal Quest
As with most of the Daedric quests, you’ll need to be at a certain level; for the Molag Bal quest, you’ll need to beat least level 17. Not only that, but he also requires an offering to his shrine before you’re able to talk to him. You will need tooffer a Lion Peltto the Daedric prince if you want to start the quest.
Where To Find Molag Bal’s Shrine
Molag Bal’s shrine is located to thewest of the Imperial City, southeast of Chorrol, and northeast of Skingrad. It’snext to both Fort Wooden Hand and GottlesfrontPriory to the northwest of them. The area is deep in the wilderness, so expect leveled enemies when going through there.
Where To Find Lion Pelts
To start the Molag Bal quest, you’ll need to have a Lion Pelt with you. There are a lot of ways you may get this item since it’s part of the loot table of a lot of enemies. If you don’t want to rely on RNG, then you can also do a quest where there is a guaranteed chance of spawning a lion.
The quest ‘A Rat Problem’in Anvil’s Fighter’s Guild is thebest way to get lion peltssince you will be fighting lions. This is also the first quest you may get from there, so any character can start this quest as long as they join the Fighter’s Guild.
How To Complete The Molag Bal Quest
Once you have all the prerequisites, interact with the shrine of Molag Bal. He will give you a task to go to a nearby village where there is a man named ‘Melus Petilius.’ He will give you aCursed Mace, and you will need tomake Melus kill you with thecursed mace.
The area where you can find Melus Petilius isBrindle Home, a short walk to the southwestof the shrine. There you will find a couple of villagers who you canask where to find your target. You will need toincrease their dispositionfor them to tell you their location.
They will talk about the great deeds Melus Petilius has done and that he now lives in the village quietly after his wife’s passing. The quest will update and mark his location.He visits his wife’s grave nearthe villagebetween 10 AM and 12 noon.
Go to him when he’s visiting his wife’s grave anddrop theCursed Macenear him. The next step is toattack him, to provoke him. He will only attack you back when you do it while he’s visiting the grave. When he turns hostile, he will take the mace and attack you. You will need tolet him damage you.
Molag Bal will teleport you away when your health goes below 20 points, but Melus Petilius may damage you for more than that and kill you. It’s best to save the game before attempting to let him fight you to avoid losing progress.
How To Get TheMace Of Molag Bal
Once your health is loweredenough, Molag Bal willteleport you back to the shrine. Talk to the shrine again, and this will complete the quest. He will then reward you with a Daedric weapon.
TheMace of Molag Balis a Daedric artifact with high damage as long as you have a high level in the Blunt Weapons skill. It has an on-hit effect of Absorb Strength for five points for ten seconds, as well asAbsorb Magickafor five points for ten seconds.
