At the beginning ofThe Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, only Darumi, Hiruko, and Takemaru are willing to join Takumi in taking up arms to battle the school invaders in the name of saving humanity. To get the rest of the class to join your fight, you’ll need to find a way to persuade them.
Takumi takes on a Persuasion Mission for each classmate you meet who isn’t immediately willing to fight with you in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, which tests your ability to read these zany characters and respond in ways you think will win them over.

What Are Persuasion Missions?
Learn Your Teammates And Recruit Them To The Fight
After Hiruko takes over control of the school in Sirei’s absence, you’ll need to work on persuading the pacifistic folks in your class to join your fight against the school invaders, since unlike Sirei who was less directly forceful, Hiruko will kick out any teammate who doesn’t agree to fight. Because of this, you’ll need to do a bit of work andconvince every teammate to fight.
You’ll begin this mission onDay 011when Hiruko tells the group they have a few days to decide if they want tofight or leave the Academy, when Takumi decides that Tsubasa will be the simplest one to convince. Hiruko has forbidden the non-fighters from leaving their room, so you’ll go to their room on the roof, see a quick conversation in which youlearn what will make them join youin battle, and be asked to leave. This will offer you time to proceed with the story and figure out what you need for each character.

A critical part of approaching your Persuasion Missions in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy isknowing how to read your teammates, since the same approach that works with the soft Tsubasa won’t be quite as impactful with the much more defensive Gaku right after her. Not only will they offer you hints on what they want as a token gift, but you’ll learn about their character and the things that matter most to each of them, able to then use those purposes in your persuasions.
The Persuasion Mission begins withgiving a rare giftthat feels up their alley, a mission that Eito is dedicated to helping with. Work together to find the materials necessary for each gift, and then use the Gift-o-Matic to fabricate this item, but beware that these persuasion giftsrequire rare materialsthat you’ll only be able to find by venturing out onexpedition missionsbeyond the Undying Flames.

Before you go, you’ll first want totalk to any available classmatesto see if they have pertinent information that might help direct you in where to go once you get beyond the Flames, which can save you valuable time and HP. Additionally, there will typically be a few treasure spots on the expedition board anytime you play the board game, so knowing where to try landing is always helpful if you’re trying to hurry things up and get back to school.
If you’re using the expedition to the rare item needed for gifts in Persuasion Missions to gather some additional resources and Battle Points while you’re out there, just be warned that your expedition ends as soon as you pick up the item needed for the character whose Persuasion Mission you have coming up. If you’re not ready to go back just yet, it doesn’t hurt to do a lap or two around the item to grab a couple additional resources - who knows when you’ll need them for optional gifts or Class Weapon upgrades?

Respond Appropriately In Conversation To Seal The Deal
When you go back to offer your classmates their specific gift, you’ll still have another element to the Persuasion Mission - a fullconversation that raises or lowers a progress meterthat tracks their willingness tojoin the fight. This meter changes based on themultiple-choice conversation optionsthat appear as you listen to your classmate explain why they’re not feeling up to fighting.
It’s important to note thatyou don’t always have to respond right away, since you’ll often notice thatadditional responses appear the longer you listen. However, this isn’talwaysthe case, and you’ll typically need to redo the Mission in these occasions. You get a freebie in Tsubasa’s Mission when you’re learning the ropes, but not all characters will be as forgiving of social faux pas as she was.
Different responses impact the conversation differently, as you may expect, so you’ll need to know what approach each character would prefer you to take. Additionally, you’ll need to progress the conversation enough to focus oneveryone’s individual reason for fightingand convince them that there’s no other way to save what they care about most than to join you in battle and survive the100 days at school.
If you don’t remember the individual things everyone mentioned in the early days of school that would inform their reason for wanting to fight, you can often talk to other classmates for hints and to trigger flashbacks that remind you of conversations that may not have registered as important back when you first had them.
Following a successful Persuasion Mission, that teammate will join the fight and become available to select the next time you experience story-based combat (since practice missions in the Training Room unlock gradually with story progress). You can also opt into bringing them on your next voluntary expedition to see what kinds of perks they offer when searching for resources.
