If you’re looking to join the Mage’s Guild inOblivion Remastered, you’re going to have to do some work along the way. You’ll need to complete a task for every single Mages Guild building spread across all the world of Oblivion, in order to earn entry into the Arcane University.
The Bruma Recommendation Quest is one of the quests you’ll need to get through on your way, and is the northernmost of the quests. This can be one of the more confusing of the quests in this questline, but once you know how to get through it, it’s not too difficult.
How To Start The Bruma Recommendation Quest
Bruma is locatedon the north side of the mapand is in a fairly snowy biome. Once you enter the city and follow the Quest Marker for theJoin The Mages Guildquest into the Mage Guild building, you’ll need tospeak to Jeanne.
Jeanne is going totask you with finding a Mage that has gone missing,named J’skar.
There are a couple of different ways to go about this, and we’ll cover them both.
How To Find J’Skar By Talking To Volanaro
With this method, you’ll need tospeak to the other Mages here, but depending on their initial impression of you, they aren’t going to give you much information right off the bat.Volanaro is specifically going to be the one who will give you information, but he’ll only do so if his opinion of you is high enough.
His disposition will need to be at a certain level in order for him to come clean about the situation with J’skar; you can accomplish thisthrough persuasionor through bribery.
Steal Jeanne’s Book
Volanaro will request you tosteal Jeanne’s Manual of Spellcraftfrom her desk, and return tomeet him in his room sometime after ten pm. Jeanne’s desk is goingto be locked, but Volanaro is going to teach you theMinor Latch Crackspell, which will allow you to open easy locks.
Meet Volanaro After Ten PM
Once you’ve got Jeanne’s Manual of Spellcraft, check the time, and head to Volarano’s room after 10 p.m.Talk to him about J’skar, and J’skar will reappear in the room, explaining they’re playing a prank on Jeanne. They’ll allow you to tell Jeanne that you found J’skar, and you’ll be able to finish the Quest.
How To Find J’skar With Detect Life
You can also find J’skarby using the Detect Life spell. Justcast the spell around the Mages Guild Building, and then keep your eye out for the indicator that there is, in fact, life nearby where there shouldn’t be.
Talking to J’skar while he’s invisible isn’t going to yield helpful results, butcasting Dispel will cause him to appear.
J’skar is not going to be as enthused about this method as he would be by using the above way of completing this Quest, butthis will still allow you to complete the requestand receive your recommendation from Jeanne.
Return To Jeanne
Either way,return to Jeanne after finding J’skar, and she’ll be grateful.She’ll give you your recommendation for the Arcane University, and you can be on your way.
