There are plenty of free time events between battles inThe Hundred Line: Last Defense Academyand different ways to enjoy spending it, but when you’ve got a good number of materials on hand and some extra battle points burning a hole in your pocket, be sure to see which abilities you’re able to upgrade.
This becomes especially important as you continue to recruit new teammates into the fight for humanity, to ensure newer teammates aren’t falling too far behind the initial crew. Here’s everything you need to know about powering up your teammates' gear in Last Defense Academy.

Battle Upgrades Overview
Where Do You Upgrade Attacks?
Once you’veunlocked the Training Room, as Sirei lets you and the group begin wandering through theupper levels of the Academy, you’ll notice that there are two important machines inside: a VR game that allows you a chance to work on your team formations and combat skills by way of practice battles that yield real results and rewards, as well as a smaller machine off to the left.
This secondary machine is how you’llupgrade your teammates' skills and attacksthroughout the game, an important part of making sure everyone isas strong as can bebefore you select them on the battlefield or as someone to accompany you on your next expeditions. As the game progresses, the enemies you’ll face in battle grow tougher, so you’ll want to stop by after major battles to ensure everyone is as strong as can be for the moment.

Not only is doing so important, butusing the upgrade machine does not consume your free time slot, so you’re able to do it at your own pace anytime you’re free to roam about the Academy. Use the map to quick travel up to the Training Room before beginning your activity for that time slot.
When using the upgrade machine in The Last Defense Academy, you’ll find yourself in need of a few different things each time you want to improve a teammate’s abilities. First, you’ll need tochoose which move you want to improve, but just keep in mind that you canonly upgrade teammates who have joined the fight. Anyone who hasn’t used their hemoanima powers yet won’t have any powers to upgrade, but be sure to circle back once they’re part of the group.

In general, when boosting your teammatesand their gear and attacks in The Last Defense Academy, you’ll see that these upgradesboost attack power or rangeon attacks for the most part, which is never a bad thing to have at your disposal without using your Voltage to power up.
After the battle in which Tsubasa and Gaku join the fighting squad, you’ll unlock access to theGarage on 1F of the school, in which you’ll find extra ways to power up the team by upgrading everyone’s Class Weapons. The Garage allows you toteach teammates new skillsthat they can use in battle, both offensive and defensive, so be sure to pop in often to upgrade. The first time you can use this ability is onay 020.
What Do You Need To Level Up?
When you have a teammate and a move selected, you’ll see in the information to the right that you’ll need to meet specific requirements before being able to improve that skill or attack.
To improve using the training room, you’ll need:
Battle Points and resources are consumed upon confirmation of your selection, but you’ll see these improved powers the next time that teammate enters a battle. Since upgrading teammates' attacks in Last Defense Academy doesn’t consume time and you’re already in the Training Room to use the upgrade machine, it’s as good a time as any to use the VR machine to simulate a battle and test out that character’s new abilities.
