There’s plenty to keep in mind when you and your teammates step out onto the battlefield outside of the school inThe Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, but keeping an eye on your Voltage meter and using it to power up your attacks at critical moments is a pivotal step to winning your battles.
Whether it’s earned by defeating enemies or even by sacrificing your own teammates who are near death, you’re able to continuously increase your Voltage in battle in The Last Defense Academy so it’s always ready for you to cash in and power up when it matters most.
How To Charge And Use Your Voltage
From the very first time you venture out to defend the Academyfrom the school invaders, you’ll notice thebar at the top of the battle screenduring your tactical strategy fights. This is your Voltage meter, and filling and using it wisely can be the make or break aspect of a battle.
The more you fight, the more you’ll notice thatyour Voltage charges with every move your team makesduring the battle, with outright offensive moves garnering more Voltage than support or defensive commands. Additionally, some strong attacks for certain teammates may add additional Voltage on top of the usual amount, so stack these additions whenever possible!
Keep in mind thatVoltage is a communal resourcefor everyone on the field with you at any given time. Your teammatesgain Voltage as a squadduring fights, with every teammate contributing to the Voltage meteron your turnwhen they attack. As such, you all pull from the same Voltage meter when using the extra abilities it grants, sochoose who to power up wiselybefore doing so.
Once the meter reaches 100, you’ll be able to empower your teammates with a plethora of sweet boosts, and you canbank up to 300 percent Voltageat a time before the accumulation stops. In the same vein,Voltage uses 100 percent to power your teammates, which means you can stack up to three Voltage attacks per battle.

You might even find that some teammates, like Gaku for instance, operate more effectively in combat simply by being on a team with high Voltage meters, so it’s best to know how to use your teammates to max out your battle strategies.

It’s relatively early into your battles that you’ll learn thatteammates close to death can sacrifice themselvesin the name of not only dealing a good amount of damage to enemies in a much larger range than any of their mid-combat attacks, but to boost the team’s Voltage.Any teammate that dies in such a wayadds 100 percent Voltagebefore being removed from battle.
These are referred to in your battle summaries asNice! Kills, and making smart use of them can help turn the tides in battle. If you know a teammate is on their last leg - maybe they’re surrounded by enemies or afflicted with a Status that will prevent escape - then you’re able to ensure their death isn’t in vain andtake out plenty of enemies while supporting the remaining teammates.
If there are more waves after the one in which that teammate died, they’ll be returned to battle on the next wave. The last wave, however, is usually the strongest in the battles you’ll face in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, so it’s best to be sure you’re ready to kill off a teammate - you may need all the firepower you may get.
