InXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, FrontierNav is your best friend, even if at first it seems massively overly complex. It is, for the most part, a system you can choose to ignore if you don’t care to explore much of the side content. If you do want to invest in Augments, better Skells, and having a steady flow of income though, you need it.
In fact, once all the missions are done, FrontierNav becomes the primary way of earning money, but it’s always the greatest source, too. A passive income that piles up as you play the game is basically free money. You just have to put in some effort to get it going first.
What Increases Your FrontierNav Revenue?
Once you discover a FrontierNav site in the game,a default Data Probe is placed which generates a tiny amount of Miranium and Revenue. To increase Miranium income, you place Mining Probes. To get even more money,you place Research Probes. Nice and simple. However, there are a few extra caveats to Research Probes.
For one, they don’t have to worry about storage limit, with your money able to accumulate functionally infinitely, meaningyou can ignore placing Storage Probes entirelyif you just want to maximise Revenue. However, Research Probes also gain even more incomeif you have discovered all the secret areas surrounding the siteyou place it at. So thorough exploration is key to a higher income.
On top of this, you have to be mindful of the actualletter grade of each area. Ideally, you will want to place your Research Probes only in areas with a higher letter grading for maximum gains, though it can be worth putting more powerful probes on lower graded sites so that weaker probes can get a higher multiplier.
Recommended Layout For Maximum Revenue
Research Probes are in pretty short supplyin the game, dramatically more so than Mining Probes. As such, you have to bequite tactical in your placement. This is whyDuplicators and Boosters are so important, juicing up the numbers in a way you can’t through sheer numbers.
Before trying to make an ideal layout,make sure you’ve unlocked every site on FrontierNav. This will give you full access to the FrontierNav network for chaining and boosting purposes.
Cauldros
You can make a lot of money in every region, butCauldros is where the most money can be found. You’ll want to focus on this region and build chains as long as you possibly can. Try to have as many Research Probes as you can before beginning to give you a strong start. You can freely alter your layout as you get more and better Research Probes, however.
In Cauldros, you’ll want to place aDuplicator Probe on FN Site 508to really boost your gains. ABooster Probe II in FN Site 507to the south will then give a major boost to every adjacent site of the Duplicator. From here, you want to start chaining in every direction. Build chains out with your strongest Research Probes to see an immediate and massive increase in your Revenue.
Prioritise chaining Probeswhen you may. A three-chain of Research Probe V and VI will likely give you more income than a four-chain of one and only two of another.
Sylvalum
Sylvalum has lots of potential as well, though nowhere will get you the same raw income as Cauldros. Here,place a Duplicator Probe on FN Site 408,with a Booster Probe of your choice on FN Site 406, and begin your chaining once again.
Primordia
In Primorida, there are a few good options on where to place your Duplicator and Boosters.FN Site 117is a good choice, with a Booster in FN Site 120 since no chains can be made along here. For the same reason,FN Site 106is a good option for a Duplicator as well, with a Booster placed on FN Site 104.
Noctilum
Moving over to Noctilum, there are quite a few high income areas. These are primarilyFN Sites 201, 206, and 213 in the Divine Roostto the far north, boosted even further by the discovery of secret areas. Further south there isFN Site 214. Despite having a letter grade of D for Revenue, discovering both secret areas here can still make it incredibly lucrative, and lets you make a chain of five by weaving all the way around to FN Site 223.
FN Site 204 is one of the best places to put a Duplicator Probe in this region, with aBooster Probe located in FN Site 205to its south.
Oblivia
Finally we have Oblivia. This area is slightly more complicated to plan around as there are many intersections where Research Probes can gain a lot of money, but you would have to forsake extra bonuses from a Duplicator. We would still recommend youplace Duplicator and Booster Probe in FN Sites 315 and 316respectively, or FN Sites 304 and 305. As usual, you may start chaining outwards from here.
Note thatonly a single Booster will have an effect on an adjacent probe. As such, two Booster Probes would only empower a Duplicator once.
Following these approximate steps, you can potentially make up to300,000 credits every time FrontierNav updates. Feel free to mix-and-match your Research Probes in different ways to see what gets you an even higher income. Sometimes even a small change can lead to a massive difference.
