Tizoc Overview
As he is City of the Wolves’s grappler, Tizoc comes equipped with a whole host of throws. Unsurprisingly, landing grabs is your top priority when playing as Tizoc. Naturally, he has a big 360-degree throw (➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️⬆️ + LP/HP) that you’ll utilize at point-blank to dish out hefty damage, but he also has the Hercules Throw (⬇️↘️➡️ + LP/HP) which tosses opponents into the corner, and the Artemis Rex (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK/HK) which causes Tizok to rush forward and grab his opponents.
Tizoc also has the Active Typhoon (➡️⬇️↘️ LK/HK) which will grab standing opponents. The REV version of this is pretty quick, and the LK version can be good for countering an overly aggressive opponent’s rushdown. Tizoc’s Icarus Crash (⬇️↘️➡️ + LP/HP) is used to snag people in the air. Finally, Tizok’s normal throw has a follow-up that you can use to tack on additional damage (⬅️ or ➡️ + LP/HP).

But Tizoc isn’tjustgrappling. He also has a range of powerful strikes that help him combat his opponents in neutral as well. Both his ⬅️+HP Grif-Chop and his ⬅️+HK Grif-Kick are rangy, hard-hitting normals that help Tizoc slug it out with his opponents in the mid-range. And his Cr. HP is a legitimately excellent anti-air atmostangles.
To top it all off, Tizok has his Poseidon Wave close line (⬇️↙️⬅️ LP/HP), which is a special that helps him travel across the screen in style, and his Olympus Over elbow attack (⬇️↙️⬅️ LK/HK) that acts as an effective anti-air, while also helping him advance. It is a good thing he has these tools, as Tizoc is, otherwise, fairly slow. So, you’ll need to utilize them effectively in order to maintain pressure.

When S.P.G. you have access to Tizoc’s REV Blow, which is a leaping super kick that fills the screen. His aerial REV Blow has him perform a diagonal dive attack. Neither of these are quick, but both hit hard and fill space effectively.
Tizoc Command List
As the overview section clearly outlines, Tizoc’s movelist is filled with throws. In fact, over half of his attacks are a grapple of one form or another. You should probably head to the training mode and play around with these, just so that you can familiarize yourself with their range.

You do have enough time to land a non-REV version of the Icarus Crash by performing a jump after the Olympus Over and immediately inputting the Icarus Crash. However, the timing is very, very tight.
⬅️+HP [fully charged] > LP > ⬇️↘️➡️ LK+HK > ⬇️↙️⬅️ LK+HK
This is a great way to extend a single charged chop into hefty damage. Additionally, you can cut the chop out all together and you are removing 25% of your opponent’s health bar for a single jab.

Tizoc Tips And Tricks
At the end of the day, Tizoc is a fairly simple character. You want to be close so that you’re able to grab your foes. When you are chest-to-chest with an opponent, you should go for your Just Hurricane (➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️↖️⬆️ LP/HP). However, getting close is the issue. You can launch yourself forward with yourPoseidon Wave (⬇️↙️⬅️ LP/HP), but you need to be careful to not be too predictable. Thankfully, you can break it on hit to reduce how unsafe it is if it is blocked, and you can use your feint to bait your opponent if they are countering it with a reversal attack.
When you are in the mid-range, you will want to use Tizoc’s Artemis Rex (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK/HK). This grab lunges forward. The LK and HK versions aren’t particularly fast, but the REV version is much harder to deal with.
If you get close to your opponent, expect them to get jumpy. People don’t want to get thrown, so it isn’t uncommon to see them take to the air. Thankfully, Tizoc hits aerial opponents extremely hard if you react with the REV version of his Olympus Over (⬇️↙️⬅️ LK/HK). Cancel the second hit of his Olympus Over into your Icarus Crash (⬇️↘️➡️LP/HP) to take away a quarter of their health from a single anti-air. Absolutely devastating!
If you are out of mental bandwidth, and can’t muster the Olympus Over in time, Tizoc’s Cr. HP is a reliable anti-air).
Tizoc can always perform a Safe Jump setup after you land his LP Icarus Crash. So, if you are looking to get tricky, you can swap a little damage for a safe jump setup by using the LP version instead of the HP.
