Dragon Age: Veilguardis a deeply captivating game, and the side quests and companion quests only enhance the story’s impact. Through these companion quests, you get to know your team members more closely, and each one has a meaningful purpose. Davrin, one of the Grey Wardens, and his companion, the adorable griffon Assan, share a strong bond.
However, a creature known as Gloom Howler is kidnapping the last remaining griffons, and Davrin’s main goal becomes stopping it. If you want to help Davrin and start a romantic relationship with him, this guide will cover everything you need to know.
How To Recruit Davrin
Davrin will join your teamduring ‘A Warden’s Best Friend’ quest.After the ‘In Peace, Vigilance’ quest, the Caretaker will unlock a new section of the Crossroads for you.This will allow you to take the boat on the left to access this new area.
After traveling through the Eluvian there, you will meet Harding’s Grey Warden contacts, who will mention a hunter named Davrin. In the following scene, you will meet your future companion, Davrin, along with his adorable griffon, Assan, and they will join your party.
Where To Find Davrin’s Gift
After the ‘Something Wrong’ quest, you will be able totravel to the Hossberg Wetlands.During or after this quest, you canpurchase the Display On Ancient Griffons from the merchant in Grey Hold.
Once you buy it, you will receive the ‘Fit for a Warden’ quest. When you give it to Davrin, the quest will be completed, and your bond with Davrin will increase. While it is not strictly necessary to buy and give him this gift, it is important because starting an exclusive relationship with him too early is not ideal, so you should work on increasing his bond.
Davrin Romance Quests And Events
After completing A Warden’s Best Friend, Davrin and his griffon, Assan, will reside at the Lighthouse.Be sure to check in with Davrin after every questand side quest to avoid missing his timed conversations. While Davrin’s companion quests primarily focus on training Assan, his ultimate goal is to track down the Gloom Howler.
Additionally, don’t miss opportunities to flirt with Davrin,especially while training Assanin Arlathan Forest and during moments in his room at the Lighthouse.
While completing his companion quest, A Friend in Need, you’re able to enter an exclusive relationship with him. This is a point of no return—after this, Davrin will be your partner, and you will no longer be able to romance other characters.

Davrin:“Taking down the goddess of all monsters… and the god of vengeance while you’re at it…?”

After ‘Completing The Veilguard’ questand finishing your conversation with Solas, you’ll discuss the events with your entire team. If you saved Treviso:
Neve or Lucanis:“Treviso could have used a dragon hunter. That much is true.”
We’ll be ready next time.
Later in the conversation, Davrin will ask if you trust Solas.
Davrin:“Rook, Lucanis is one thing, but do you really trust this Solas?”
Unlocks “How To Train A Griffon” companion quest
During ‘Completing The Veilguard’ quest, before speaking with Bellara and Harding,talk to Davrin to receive the ‘How To Train A Griffon’ quest.After reaching Arlathan Forest, near the end of the quest, you will find a herd of nugs.
Assan:(Happy squawk)
Behave, Assan.
In your next conversation with him, you will have the option tochoose a romantic response.
Davrin:"…not that I don’t enjoy punching it squarely in the face."
Confidence is sexy.
Romance option. Flirting with Davrin.
After completing the ‘Where The Dead Must Go’ quest and then the ‘The Dragon Slayer quest’, you will talk about the final events with everyone.
Bellara:“Feels like we’re at war. A lot of little wars.”
The gods move fast.
After the previous dialogues, Davrin will speak. Ask him to be more specific from the More option.
Davrin:“Something strange is happening with the blight there. I’d bet it involves the gods.”
Any specifics?
After the previous dialogues,either Neve or Lucanis will rejoin your group.Bellara will then talk to the returning person.
Lucanis:“Yes. Here to stay.”
Don’t leave again.
After completing the ‘Where The Dead Must Go’ quest and then the ‘The Dragon Slayer’ quest, you will have a timed conversation with Davrin. You will find him working on wood carving.
In part of the dialogue, you canflirt with him while he talks about someone dyingand mentions that the hunt will be challenging.
Davrin:"…someone’s going to die. So I’m making the real monster hunter manual."
A hunt should be challenging.
Later in the previous conversation,after discussing Gloom Howler, you can earn another approval from him:
Davrin:“In this line of work, Assan and I are only as strong as the quarry we hunt.”
You learn by doing.
In another timed conversation,you will talk to Davrin about griffons.He will say something about griffons hunting Darkspawn.
Davrin:“Just need to corral it.”
The previous conversation continues.
Davrin: “Nothing like seeing redemption happen before your eyes."(If you are not a Warden)
Davrin:“Feeling lost?"(If you are a Warden)

In the ‘Something Wrong’ quest,if you’re a Warden and Davrin is with you, you may earn an approval from him when speaking to Evka at the beginning of the quest.
Evka:“But there’s survivors. We can be grateful for that.”
It is our duty to help.
In a timed conversation,you will see Manfred and Assan hissing at each other, and it will be funny. At the end of the dialogue, you can get approval from Davrin.
Be nice to Davrin.
At the end of the ‘Something Wrong’ quest, after collecting the samples, theFirst Warden will arrive.
First Warden:“Your sensitivity to blight is useful, Warden Antoine. But you’ve had more than one snake in your ear.”

In ‘The Siege of Weisshaupt’ quest,when facing the Warden, you canknock him outand be in charge.
Well, I tried talking.
Davrin greatly approves.
When you complete the ‘After The Storm’ quest,when you talk to Davrin, you’ll find him doing woodcarving. You’ll discuss Weisshaupt with him.
Davrin:“Did I? Because I’m still here. They’re not.”
Move on.
In the continuation of the previous conversation, you’ll have a chance to flirt with him.
Davrin:”…will require a lot more gingerwort truffles.” (Chuckles)
You’re not alone.
Davrin will learn thata place called Cauldron has been attackedand will hear that Gloom Howler is behind it.
Davrin:“Because whatever attacked it sounds like the Gloom Howler.”
Now’s our chance.
In the continuation of the conversation, Davrin will talk about Assan. At this point, you can flirt with Davrin.
Davrin:“I’m supposed to be the bodyguard. Keep that feathery butt safe.”
Unlocks “The Cauldron” companion quest.
Before entering the area where ‘The Cauldron’ quest takes place, you will speak with Davrin.
Davrin:“And what have they been hiding inside?”
No time to waste.
When you confront Gloom Howlerand ask where the other Griffons are.
Gloom Howler:“I liberated them.”
They aren’t yours.
After “The Cauldron” quest, when you approach Davrin, you’llfind him planning to make a trophy cabinetand cutting logs with an axe.
Davrin:“Building a trophy cabinet. For the figures I’m carving.”
You’re impressively skilled.
After the previous conversation, you’re able to express your romantic interest in Davrin. This does not create a commitment yet.
Davrin:“So tell me: Do you see us headed anywhere together, or is it a hopeless chase?”
Expresses romantic interest in Davrin.
After the previous conversation.
Davrin:“It might be good to carve the people still around. Once this is all over.”
When’s it ever over?
After the ‘The Cauldron’ companion quest, you’llfind Davrin in Emmrich’s roomduring a timed conversation. If you’re a Warden, you can gain approval from Davrin at this point.
Davrin:“It’s one of us.”

At the end of the ‘Fire and Ice’ quest,you will return to the Lighthouse and discuss the final events with your team.
What about the Wardens?
You can obtain “Cries from the Past” companion quest.
After the Fire and Ice quest, when you speak to Davrin, he will mention that he has gathered information about the Gloom Howler, which will trigger the companion quest ‘Cries From The Past.’
After traveling to Hossberg Wetlands and starting the quest, you will meet Valya, who will introduce herself:
Davrin:“That’s why they’re extinct.”
You can obtain “A Friend In Need” companion quest.
After the previous companion quest, when yougo to speak to Davrin, he will mention that he plans to take Assan for a walk in the Arlathan Forest and will invite you along.
This will trigger the ‘A Friend In Need’ companion quest.After meeting Eldrin in the Arlathan Forest, the following dialogue will take place.
Eldrin:“And can you be trusted around our halla, Rook?"(If you are not a Warden)
Eldrin:“Another Warden. Can you be trusted around our halla, Rook?"(If you are a Warden)
Davrin thinks so.
In the ‘A Friend In Need’ quest,after using the horn, a Halla will approach,and Assan will get close but not attack.
At this point, Davrin will thank you, and you can begin an exclusive relationship with him. Once you choose this option,you will no longer be able to flirt with anyone else, and Davrin will become your partner. This is a point of no return.
Davrin:“Thank you, Rook. Means a lot to have you here for this.”
