InDragon Age: Veilguard, Neve Gallus is one of the first characters to join your team. She is a mage who comes from Minrathous to assist you in stopping Solas. However, stopping Solas leads to new problems, causing your paths to cross with Neve’s. Varric is the one who first discovers Neve’s abilities, and after Varric is injured, you will take over as the team leader.
Neve is an essential part of the team, finding crucial information. If you wish to get closer to this mysterious mage and romance her, this guide is here to help.
How To Recruit Neve
Neve is one of the first companions to join your team.During the prologue quest, ‘The End of the Beginning’,after meeting Harding and having her join your party, your first battle will take place.
Following that, one of your tasks will update to finding Neve. After defeating the Venatori and reaching Dumat Plaza,you’ll spot two Venatori standing in front of a massive block of ice.Take them down, investigate the ice, and it will shatter—revealing Neve. From that moment, she officially joins your team.
How To Quickly Boost Your Bond Level With Neve
Although Neve joins your party early,most of her companion quests become available in Act Two, and there aren’t many opportunities to romance her in Act One. However, once you reach Act Two and complete her companion quest, ‘A Clear Mind’, you’ll have the chance to enter an exclusive relationship with her. Until then, you’re free to flirt with other characters.
After recruiting Davrin and completing ‘A Warden’s Best Friend’, you’ll need to make a choice. Two dragons will attack different locations. If you want to bond with Neve more easily,choose to save Dock Town, her hometown. This will strengthen your relationship with her andmake it easier to enter an exclusive romance.
If you choose to save Treviso instead, Neve will be absent from both your party and the Lighthouse for a while. Additionally,your relationship with her will progress more slowly.To make up for this, you’ll need to take her on as many quests as possible to gain more approval and rebuild your connection.
Where To Find Neve’s Gift
After the ‘Shadows of Minrathous’ quest, you can head to Dock Town. Once there, you will be able to freely explore Dock Town. If you wish, you can also buy Neve’s gift during the ‘A Study of Dock Town’ quest. After you teleport to eluvian in Dock Town,head north and you’ll reach a dining room. Open the door on the left, which has a sensor and magic circle in front of it.
From the Pawn Shop here, you canpurchase the gift called Collected Evidenceand give it to Neve. When you obtain the gift, the ‘Fit for a Detective’ quest will begin, and it will end once you give the gift to Neve.
If you recruit Davrin and complete the ‘A Warden’s Best Friend’ quest, and then choose to save Treviso,the merchant selling Neve’s gift will be gone, and you won’t be able to purchase the gift afterward. Therefore, if you choose to save Treviso, make sure to get the gift before making that decision.

The table below lists dialogues that allow you to gain approval from Neve and flirt with her until you enter an exclusive relationship. This guide assumes Treviso was saved instead of Dock Town, so some dialogues reflect that choice.

During the game’s first quest, ‘The End of the Beginning’, when you approach Solas,Varric will explain his plan to change Solas’s mind.
Varrick:“Solas needs someone to sell him another option, to help him justify changing his mind.”

While Varric speaks with Solas—and as it becomes clear that his efforts aren’t working—you will have to decide how to stop Solas’s ritual. At this point,both Lace Harding and Neve will offer to go with you.Choosing one will earn their approval.

During the ‘Shadows of Ancient Arlathan’ quest,after completing the task to speak with Nevein the Lighthouse, enter the Study and talk to her.
Neve:“If we’re stuck in this, let’s hope you’re able to trust me again."(If you chose Neve instead of Harding to stop the ritual in the prologue)
Neve:“It’s a start."(If you chose Harding instead of Harding to stop the ritual in the prologue)

Romance option. Flirting with Neve.
During the ‘In Entropy’s Grasp’ quest,you will discuss events at the table with Neve and Lace Harding.Neve will advocate for further investigation, while Harding will push for immediate action.
Harding:“And how many more people will get hurt—get killed—while we spend time investigating?”
Neve’s right.
‘In Entropy’s Grasp’ quest, Before the Ogre boss fight, if Neve is with you.
Neve:“Right. Because darkspawn, demons, and animated suits of armor aren’t tricky enough.”
Of course it is.
After defeating The Ogre boss’In Entropy’s Grasp' quest, you willhead to the Veil Jumper Camp and talk to Irelin.
Irelin:“We could ask it about the gods. Figure out their next move.”

In the ‘Shadows Crossing’ main quest, you mustdecide the fate of the Mayor.
Harding:“Rook, you’re a Grey Warden. You could pack him off to Weisshaupt as punishment."(If you are Grey Warden)
Save him.
At the end of the ‘Shadows Crossing’ main quest,after meeting Morrigan, Bellara will have a conversation about the gods.
Bellara:“Our gods are back. Our gods! And they’re killing people and blighting the world. How do we stand up against that?”
Step by step.
In ‘The Singing Blade’ main quest,when you go to Harding first to search for Solas' dagger, she will blame herself.
Harding:“I should’ve taken the shot.”
We all carry blame.
At the beginning of ‘The Smuggled Relic Case’ quest,Neve will introduce you to Tarquin.Then, Viper will approach you.
Neve:“Rook. Meet the Viper."(If you are not a Shadow Dragon.)
Neve:“You know the Viper.” (If you are a Shadow Dragon.)
Nice entrance.
At the end of ‘The Smuggled Relic Case’ quest,after fighting the boss Albin, Knight Commander Lenos will arrive and explain that Albin was misled. After they leave, you’ll have a dialogue with Neve.
Neve:(sighs) “Damn it.”
We stopped the demons. (If you are not a Shadow Dragon.)
This is why we’re here.(If you are a Shadow Dragon.)
After the ‘Sea of Blood’ quest, when you return to Lighthouse, you will see everyone talking at a table, and the topic will be the demon inside Lucanis. The demon inside him, Spite, will want to talk to you, andLucanis will have a nosebleed.
Lucanis:“No, it’s fine. I’m fine.”
This is not fine.
At the end of the ‘Shadows of Minrathous’ quest,Maevaris will introduce herself.If you are a Shadow Dragon, Rook will recognize her. Choose the dialogue “You’re Maevaris Tilani!” to show that you know her, and then:
Maevaris:“I know you, don’t I? Rook. They told me Varric stole you away for a job.”
Job’s still going.
After talking with Neve and Bellara in Neve’s room, you can begin Neve’s companion quest in Dock Town.At the start of the ‘A Study of Dock Town’ quest, you’ll talk to Neve.
Neve:“Besides, I was doing this before they came knocking. Before Varric too. Right here in Dock Town."(If you are not a Shadow Dragon.)
Neve:“You miss it?” (If you are a Shadow Dragon.)
It’s complicated.
After purchasing some papers for the ‘A Study of Dock Town’ quest,you’ll meet Elekand have a conversation with him.
Elek:“What about you? Is there something you’re buying, my friend…?”
Can I sell you a scam?

After the conversation with Elek ends, you’ll speak with Neve again.
Neve:“Don’t tell me you’re surprised.”
During the previous conversation, you can choose another flirt option.
Neve:“Sometimes you’re lucky. Sometimes you get more. But the tables always turn… it’s better if you know it’s coming.”
I’m glad you took the job.
After a while in ‘The Smuggled Relic Case’ quest,you’ll find Neve and Bellara in Bellara’s room.
In this dialogue,never choose to leave, as Neve and Bellara will approve you at the end of the conversation.
Neve:“Hold on. I don’t think Rook’s interested in that story.”
Up to you.
After completing the ‘Where The Dead Must Go’ and ‘The Dragon Slayer’ quests, you will discuss the final events with everyone. Afterward, either Neve or Lucanis will rejoin the group.
Lucanis:“I am.”
Glad you’re back.
After Neve or Lucanis rejoin your group,Bellara will speak with the newcomer.
Lucanis:“Yes. Here to stay.”
Don’t leave again.
Neve Disapproves
At the end of the ‘Something Wrong’ quest, after collecting the samples, the Warden will arrive. If you’re not a Warden and Neve is with you:
First Warden:“Stay away from the blight and the Wardens. How many times must you be told?"(If you are not a Warden)
First Warden:“You were told to stay away. Or does your allegiance to us no longer matter?"(If you are a Warden)
There’s no winning here
You will find Taash and Neve talkingabout clothes in the kitchen.If your character is trans or non-binary, you can receive approval from both Neve and Taash.
Taash:“This is stupid. Forget I said anything.”
Well, I tried talking.
In the ‘After The Storm’ main quest,go to Neve, and Lucanis will approach and talk about coffee.
Lucanis:“I… don’t know where to go with this.”
Neat. It’s not Tevinter-style. (Shadow Dragon)
In the ‘Cobbled Swan Case’ quest,after defeating Makal Damas, there is an option to flirt with Neve:
Makal Damas:“The game never ended.”
Makal Damas:“Consider it my thanks.”
No. We’ll find a better way.
Neve disapproves.
After leaving Makal Damas and returning to the Lighthouse, you will speak to Neve, where another flirt opportunity appears.
Neve:“You know, I didn’t expect backup for this job. I wasn’t looking to drag you in.”
The previous dialogue continues.
Neve:“He went in too fast. Aelia found him. She got out. Brom didn’t.”
She’ll fall this time.
There will be another flirt chance in the continuation of the previous dialogue. If you flirt with her, she will want to get to know you better.(Romance option depends on past choices.)
Neve:“You came through for Dock Town this time. Even when I didn’t expect it.”

After the ‘Cobbled Swan Case’ quest,if you have completed Neve’s other companion quests and her bond is at level six, you will be able to talk to her about whispers in the Lighthouse.
Following this conversation, you will be able to express your romance.
Neve:“They’ve been seen here when I am not. There’s more to it.”
Neve:“Good. You’ve got a habit of creating them.”

Expresses romantic interest in Neve.
At theend of the ‘Fire and Ice’ quest, you will return to the Lighthouse and discuss the final events with your team.
First things first.
After the ‘Cobbled Swan Case’ quest,Neve will mention having a meeting with the Threadsand invite you to join, thus giving you the ‘Chasing Leads’ companion quest.
In this quest, meet Neve in Dock Town. Then, you will meet with the Threads gang. Elek’s dialogue here may vary depending on your past choices.
Elek Tavor:“I’ve got names of missing people. Including those hardly anyone noticed yet. All yours. No catch.”

After completing the ‘Chasing Leads’companion quest, speak with Neve in Lighthouse toreceive the ‘A Clear Mind’ companion quest.
In this quest, you will need to spend time with Neve. After meeting her in Dock Town, you’re able to flirt with her.
Neve:“So here we are. I’m out of leads, and you’re out that supper I promised.”
I still get time with you.
Next, you will need tofind three stones for Neve.After finding them, you will head to her favorite spot in Dock Town and skip stones on the sea.
Neve:“I’d look over my notes, but I’ve got them by heart. I just need to clear my head.”
Not the easiest thing to do.
In the continuation of the dialogue,you can start an exclusive relationship with Neve.
This is a point of no return, and from this point onward, Neve will be your partner, and you won’t be able to flirt with other characters.
Neve:“Sometimes it feels as though the city itself stabs me in the back.”

Commits you to an exclusive relationship with Neve
The dialogues in the table take placeduring the ‘Regrets of the Dread Wolf’ quest, after you place the Wolf Statuettes you gathered in the Lighthouse library. This quest is optional, but if you have found and placed the wolf statuettes, you may receive extra approval from Neve in some dialogues.
After placing the second wolf statuettein the library and seeing Solas’s second memory.
Bellara:“There’s an old legend about it. Davrin. The one with Andruil’s armor? Not sure it matters.”
Solas felt guilty.
After placing the third wolf statuettein the library and seeing Solas’s third memory.
Lucanis:“What do you think, Rook?”
