These battles are often quick to find and trigger, but take a while to get the hang of. In doing so, you’ll master the art of high-risk-high-reward gameplay, and meet some of the finest racers on the roads. There are a few things to keep in mind before you begin.
What Are SP Battles?
SP (Spirit Point) is a type of measurement in Tokyo Xtreme Racer that tells youhow well you’ve done against an opponent. It’s a unique mechanic in the game that sets it apart from others. To put this to a test, SP Battles are one-on-one races that test your endurance on the road.
When you trigger an SP Battle, you race against an opponent, and it’s not just about speed—it’s a test ofstaying on the road in one piecefor as long as you can. The racer who stays ahead whilst breaking the other’s resolve wins the battle.
To start an SP Battle, you simply need toapproach an opponent and flash your headlights. Doing so will trigger a slick animation, followed by a race.
If you notice a driver with a question mark on top of them, go ahead and trigger a race. You’ll never know who you’re up against!
How To Win SP Battles
When you successfully start a race, you’ll notice two bars at the top of the screen. This SP bardepletes when a driver falls behind in a race. This usually starts to happen once one racer has overtaken the other.
Since the rule is pretty clear on this one, you need to stay ahead of the opponent at all costs. The dirty way of doing this is toslam your car against theirs often, which can result in an easy way of overtaking them.
Ideally, you want to ensure that youpurchase several upgrades for your car’s accelerationin order to win most SP Battles. After all, the CP you earn from races needs to be put to good use, and what better way to do so than by upgrading your car’s acceleration prowess?
SP Battles can be crucial to progress through the game. So, trigger as many as you can even if you lose a few races.
