Diablo 4’seighth season, Belial’s Return, brings a new seasonal activity and upgrade track for players to experience. All throughout Sanctuary are deadly apparitions of Belial’s minions. Defeat enough of them, and you can summon the demon himself for a high-stakes overworld fight. Paired with a reworked boss structure in endgame, this season has plenty of content to chew through.
But fighting Belial is just the start of this new season. Today, we’ll be going over how to start the Season 8 mechanic, explain how these Apparition Incursions work, and quickly showcase how to access the new Boss Powers seasonal mechanic.
How To Start A Deceitful Incursion
“A Deceitful Incursion” is the Season 8 questline that begins upon completing theDiablo 4 main campaign; Vessel of Hatred isn’t required. Once complete, head to Kyovashad and speak with Sayeena to start the quest. This will introduce you to the core seasonal mechanic, upgrade system, and new activity.
Find The Source Of The Apparitions
Sayeena has located some rather disturbing apparitions near the eastern end of the Fractured Peaks. Make your way to the waypoint and clear out the enemies. If you just made your character and skipped the campaign, now is a good time to spec your skill points before you proceed. With the adds slain, make your way inside the newly revealed dungeon.
Inside will be anApparition of Kirma, a massive beast with a multitude of AoE attacks and hard-hitting melee strikes. This enemy is quite dangerous, even on Normal difficulty, so keep your distance when possible. Ideally, allocate a movement skill with Unstoppable to break out of any stun effects Kirma uses. Widdle down its HP until it eventually fades, then speak with Sayeena again.
Complete Apparition Incursions
That apparition is but one of many demons that have appeared in Sanctuary since Lilith’s demise. These apparitions serve as the main seasonal mechanic.Every five minutes, an Apparition Incursion will spawn somewhere in Sanctuary.These are structured similarly toLegion Eventsbut drop seasonal currencies and grant reputation with Sayeena’s reward track.
Once you’re at an incursion and the activity starts, a horde of Belial’s minions will spawn near the summoning ritual. Defeating them will spawn an apparition miniboss that is not too dissimilar to what you faced earlier. You’ll have the help of every nearby player, so these fights shouldn’t pose too much of a threat. Defeating an apparition will move the ritual to another location. Reposition, slay any minions you see, and repeat the process.
After your instance has slain two apparitions, Belial will spawn to cap off the event. This boss uses a wide range of AoE ground attacks and summons tracking pillars on occasion, detonating a few seconds after creation. Strafe around the boss whenever possible to avoid most of its attacks.
Landing the killing blow will spawn an event chest and shower you inSpectral Ash, a currency used in the Boss Powers seasonal mechanic. Open your inventory and check the “Boss Powers” tab (left of your main inventory) to view your new powers. We’ll have a guide for this mechanic later today; stay tuned.
