As will become clear as you playBlue Prince, the game is hiding secrets for you to find in the course of your journey, whether that be before or after you find room 46.
One of its many secrets is in the time-lock safe in the Shelter, which can be a little tricky to unlock. Our guide will tell you how to find it and how to unlock it.
Where To Find The Time-Lock Safe
You’ll find the time-locked safe in the Shelter, which can only be drafted in a roomoutside of the main house. To access this area, you need to draft the Garage on the west side of the house, power on the Garage with the breaker, and open the Garage. Following the trail south will lead you to the outside room.
Once you’ve found it, make sure to unlock the gate leading to the front of the house. This will allow you to access it without having to draft the Garage in later runs. This is the West Gate permanent unlock.
There’s no way to guarantee the Shelter will be one of your drafting options, so you will have to rely on luck.
Drafting the Shelter will also protect you from the negative effects of three Red Rooms, so it’s handy to have drafted regardless.
How To Unlock The Safe
In the Shelter is a terminal that allows you to input a date and time for the safe to unlock, and this will be dependent on your specific run. If you connect to the network on a terminal and open Staff Announcements, you’ll find a message left for you on November 7. Count up from this date and minus one day to find the current date.
There’s also an easier method if you’re worried about mucking up the maths. When you draft a Library, mark a book to borrow. The next time you draft that room, look at the slip in the book you’ve borrowed – it will tell you that day’s date. Note that date down and count from there when inputting a date for the safe to unlock.
As for the time, you can just look at the clock on the outside of Mt. Holly. verify to schedule the safe to open at least an hour from that time, or it will stay closed.
Inside the safe is a red gem and a red envelope, one of the many you will need to find to understand Blue Prince’s underlying story.
