Resistances
The Unicorn remains the second-fastest vanilla mount in Oblivion and boasts impressive attacking stats for a mount.
With a decent speed and excellent resistances, the only downside of the Unicorn is that you aren’t allowed to keep it.

While you can ride and fast travel with the unicorn, it will always walk away and leave once you dismount. It does not count towards your “Horses Owned” statistic, either.
Since you cannot permanently keep the unicorn, you sadly cannot put any armor on it.

There isonly one unicorn available in the game, and it does not respawn. If you choose to kill the unicorn for its horn during the Hircine quest, you will not be able to ride the unicorn again for your playthrough.
Where To Find The Unicorn
The Unicorn isavailable from Level One, as soon as the tutorial is cleared.
It islocated in Harcane Grove. This is Northwest of Bravil near the Upper Nibon River in the northern part of the West Weald. You’ll find it in the heart of a valley, nestled at the conjoining bases of hills.

If you need a nearby landmark, the Shrine of Hircine is a handy place to start. You’ll find Harcane Grove 182 steps south of the shrine.
How To Catch The Unicorn
The Unicorn is surrounded by a group of nasty minotaurs. With them, you have two options:
If you choose toignore the minotaurs, you must:
Hilariously, the minotaurs will follow you a great distance. They will also fight any humanoid creatures they find on the way, meaning you can accidentally clear out marauder or other enemy camps by leading the minotaurs to them.
Be careful, however. Leading the minotaurs into camps with friendly NPCs might result in an unhappy accident.
If you choose to attack the minotaurs, you’ll want todo it with magic.
Approaching the unicorn with a weapon drawn will cause it to panic, making it hostile and unmountable.
Weed out the minotaurs, and once all are taken out, you may safelyapproach and mount the unicornwithout issue.
Even fists count as a drawn weapon around the unicorn, triggering its hostility.
