Assassin’s Creed Shadowsbrings this iconic franchise to Japan for the first time. When playing as the shinobi Naoe, you’ll need to make full use of the game’s expanded stealth mechanics as you progress through. Especially on the higher levels of difficulty.

To 100 percent complete AC Shadows, you’ll need to kill five enemies in a row without being seen, as doing so unlocks the “Unseen” Trophy/Achievement. That might sound like a difficult prospect, but we’ve got a full guide that will help master stealth in AC Shadows and get “Unseen” in the process.

How To Master The Shadows In Assassin’s Creed

Stealth has been an integral part of AC ever since the series began almost 20 years ago, and AC Shadows hasthe most comprehensive stealth systemin the franchise’s history. Hiding inside bales of hay and blending into the surroundings is synonymous with AC, but Shadows levels these mechanics up with Naoe also able to go prone and submerge herself in shallow water to sneak around enemies.

While engaging in combat as the one-man army that is Yasuke is the way to go for that character, Naoe is markedly different. You’ll need to stick to the shadowsas much as possible, all whilewhistling to attract enemies' attention andutilising weapons likeyourshuriken and kunai. To aid with this, Naoe can traverse the temples and villages of Japan with ease thanks to her grappling hook and overall manoeuvrability.

In general, getting to a high vantage point, surveying the areayou’re going to attack, andplanning your routefor picking off enemies one at a time is the wisest way to go about clearing an area. When in doubt, take your time and take stock of where you are and where the enemies are before making your next move. Time is on your side, andonce you’ve been spotted, your kill count for the Unseen trophy resets back to zero.

The higher your difficulty setting is in AC Shadows, the easier it is for enemies to locate you.

How To Get The Unseen Trophy/Achievement

The Unseen Trophy/Achievementcan be unlocked at any point during AC Shadows, even after completing the story. However, it’s better to get this out of the way as soon as possible if you’re looking for a challenge.

This achievement requires you tokill five enemies in a row without being spotted. The first opportunity when you can get it is one of the best that you’ll get, and it takes place during the prologue. When playing as Naoe, you’lltravel to Katano Castle.

Naoe is about to kill the Onryo Samurai while standing on a pillar in Assassins Creed Shadows.

When approaching the castle, travel towards the right-hand towerand climb upit towards the vantage point. From here, survey the area, being sure tolocate the enemy on ground level, immediately in front of you,and the pair on the castle walls to the right. Leap of faith into the pile of hay and sneak up behind your first enemy and assassinate them.

Go across the high wire to your left and throw akunai to kill the guard below. This won’t count towards your five assassinations required for the trophy, but it won’t halt or reset your progress. You do need to kill him though,as he could spot you later on if left alive.

Continue across the high wire and traverse the beams of the house’s roof, and get in position toair assassinate the enemy below. Once you’ve done so, collect the items in the chest and go forward through the houses' windows and towards the right side of the castle, the same side where that pair of guards that you spotted at the start were.

Go over the wall andsneak towards the mansat downin the distance.Don’t let his lack of armour fool you, he is a guard and you can easilyassassinate him from behind.Go prone to crawl through the hole in the wall and whistle to attract the guard who is in front of you. Stay prone andsneak into the grassto get an angle on him and assassinate when you get the chance.

If you’re struggling to get unseen in the prologue, you can try again later in the game after reaching a higher level with Naoe.

you’re able to use a kunai to hit a lamp and attract the attention of the guard in the far corner of the castle and the game will encourage you to do so, but that’s a risky strategy as it will put that guard on high alert. Instead, go andstay prone whilst sticking to the outer edgeof the castle’s wall and assassinate the guardwhen you get close enough.

If you stay quiet, he should be looking in the wrong direction to spot you.

That should be five in a row in total, but just in case you lost your streak, there are a few more enemies you can dispose of with ease to get the trophy.

Quicklyclimb up the scaffolding, being careful to time your climb so the guards won’t spot you. Therewill be a guard in the distancethat can be snuck up on and assassinated. Then head left and to the roof’s vantage point, where you’llidentify Samurai Ido Yoshihirobelow. Taking him out though, is relatively straightforward when you go this route.

Swing over him using yourgrappling hook, and then press the prompt toair assassinate him. This will trigger a cutscene and, once it’s finished, you’ll need to high-tail it out of the castle as fast as possible to escape the battalion of armoured enemies that won’t be best pleased that their leader is no more.

Escaping them isn’t difficult:run to and then up the outer walland dive into the moat that surrounds the castle. Swim to the shore, and with that, you’ll pick up another trophy/achievement for completing the Prologue.
