Hello Kitty Island Adventureis filled with cute Sanrio characters, tropical landscapes, and sunshine. While initially playing, you’ll experience sunny days with not a cloud in sight, but eventually, the weather will come to Friendship Island; it just takes some questing to make it happen.
In total, there are three alternate weather types, with a fourth available for those playing on Apple Arcade. In this guide, we are going to take a look at all you need to know about the weather in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. This will include what occurs during each type, and how to unlock them.
What Are The Weather Types?
There is a total offive weather types in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, with Snowfall only being available for Apple Arcade players(and Sunny being the default weather type). Excluding Sunny weather, each requires anassociated quest to be completed before it can occur.Below, you can check out each weather type.
Additionally, each weather type features itsown currency that only appears when the weather is active.We’ll take a look at this later.
How To Unlock Each Weather Type
Now, let’s take a look at eachquest associated with weatherin Hello Kitty Island Adventure. This will cover the prerequisites for each quest, as getting there can be tough.
Rain
Rain or Shine
This quest requires you tocomplete Island Stone,which has its own hefty requirements.
In total, you’ll need tocomplete all the Power Crystal quests,unlockWish Me Mell(through A Long Awaited Introduction), andcomplete Swimming Lessons.
Swimming Lessonsunlocks once you’vereached friendship level 17 with Retsukoand completedFire Up The Volcano,Bring Back The Swing, and thePotion Hunt questline.
The hold-up here will most likely be getting Retsuko to level 17, so be sure to just give her daily gifts that she loves.
Starfall
Constellation Destination
Constellation Destination requires you tocomplete Reach for the Stars,which has its own requirements ofcompleting Rain or Shine,as well as the following quests.
Flower Power(This unlocks atlevel 14 friendship with My Melody.)
Catching a Cloudragon(This unlocks atlevel 8 friendship with Kikiandlevel 13 friendship with Keroppi. You’ll also need to completeIcy Recoveryand Magic Bubble Wand.)
Sweets in the Stars(This unlocks atlevel 2 friendship with Lalaand after you’ve completed Icy Recovery).
A Friend Indeed questline(This is the questline thatunlocks My Sweet Piano).
Steam
Saunarator
Saunarator unlocks after youcomplete Atop the Volcano,which occurs after completingMount Mystery.
To unlock Mount Mystery, you’ll just need tocomplete Rain or Shine.
Snowfall (Apple Arcade only)
Peak Weather
Peak Weather unlocks after youcomplete Snowfall Fun,which has the following requirements.
Mountain Hopes(This unlocks after completing Rain or Shine andIce and Glow.)
Ice and Glow questline (This is made up of three quests that have a lot of their own requirements. You’ll need to havegiven 5 Spirit Hearts to the Island Spirit,meet bothBig Challengesand My Sweet Piano,and complete theFriendship Never Fades questline.
Friendship Never Fades willunlock the Island Spirit,and Spirit Hearts are basically the manifestation of you becomingbest friends with a resident.This is a late-game quest thatrequires level 13 friendship with Big Challenges,as well asThe Mystery Tree: Part 4 to be complete.
Weather Currency
As mentioned earlier, unlocked weather has an associated currency. Below, you can check out the currency, and how to get it.
These currencies are used tomake associated furniture and clothing items.For example, Steamdrops can be used to makewearable towels,as well asSteamy furniture(this is furniture that would fit in a wooden sauna).
Raindrop
Raindrop Flowers will appear around theSeaside Resort, Swamp, and Merry Meadowswhen it’s raining. When you water them, the flower will bloom and yield a Raindrop.
Stardrop
Stardrops are found within Star Treasure chests, which spawn during Starfall weather. Each chest has 3 Stardrops, and they canspawn anywhere besides City Town.
Steamdrop
Steamdrops are found within Thermal Boulder. When you break the boulder, you’ll get 3 Steamdrops. These only appear inGemstone Mountain, Mount Hothead, and the Spooky Swamp.
In total, there will be 5 boulders for you to break.
Snowfall
Snowdrop
Snowdrops are obtained by breaking Snow Nuls onIcy Peak, Gemstone Mountain, the Seaside Resort, and the Spooky Swamp.Each Snow Nul will yield one Snowdrop.
In total, you can get 10 Snowdrops.
How Often Does Weather Occur?
From the menu, you’ll be able tosee the weather at the moment, as well as the weather that will happen next.When you first unlock a weather type, it will just occur randomly. By questing, you will eventually be able tounlock the feature to make the weather occur manually.
This is done by making the associated stone (such as the Rain Island Stone) and activating it in the machine that produces the weather. Below, you may check out the quest and machine used to manually start the weather, as well as what stone is required.
As you can see,completing Rainy Day Delight is beneficial,as it affects three differnt weather types.
What Happens During Each Weather Type?
Lastly, let’s go over what actually happens during each type of weather.
All weatherlasts around 15 minutes,and you’ll never have more than 40 minutes between weather events. The time between can be less, but another one will eventually come back around. Be sure to check the menu and look at the weather app!
During the rain, a few things will happen. Firstly, the Raindrop Flowers will appear. In addition to that critters in Gemstone Mountain will not appear as usual; instead,you’ll find Soaking Sluggers.
Raindrop Flowers will not appear in Mount Hothead, but you’ll be able tocatch the Shower Springtail critter here(around the Hot Springs). Lastly, if you are playing on Apple Arcade, you can complete the quest Rainbow or Bust toobtain Rainbow Beams in City Town.
Starfallonly happens during the night.During this time, you’ll be able tocatch Stardrakes in Cloud Island.Star Treasure chests won’t appear in the Rainbow Reef, but you’ll be able tofish for Starry Snipes here.
Steam vents can appear in any region, but the specified areas we mentioned earlier are the only locations where you can find the boulders. Within the Merry Meadows, you cancatch Heartlings,and within the Seaside Resort, you cancatch the Steamy Sunfish(near the Cozy Islands).
Lastly, we have Snowfall. If you visit the Spooky Swamp during this weather, you cancatch the Frost Friend critter.Additionally, you canfish for the Flurry Flyerin the Merry Meadows.
