Side activities inAssassin’s Creed: Shadowsare worthwhile. Since the game gets challenging quickly, these activities can help you keep the pace of the RPG. However, some of the more challenging and highly rewarding side missions only unlock at certain parts of the game and after you complete specific requirements.

In turn, this could leave some confused about why certain missions aren’t available to them. You can find this in the quest called The Tournament. It’s leaving players bewildered about how to access it. If you’re stuck and can’t trigger the mission, this guide will walk you through all the steps.

How To Unlock The Tournament Quest

This mission won’t be available to you until you’ve completed all the prerequisites needed, which is fairly simple when you know what needs to be done.

For The Tournament quest to appear in the game, you’ll need to have gotten all themain assassinations first. This means killing everyone in the mainShinbakufu circle.

Once you’ve gotten all the Shinbakufu group members, you should see a quest markerunder your main hideout in the Izumi Settsu region. It’ll be locatedright under the Lost Hillsandsoutheast of the Katano Foothills.

From there, you’ll meet a characternamed Gyoji. Upon interacting with him, you find out that he ran tournaments out of his temple in the past. The issue is that his temple has been taken over bytougher-than-nails warriors.

Both Yasuke and Naoe can participate in the challenge. But it’s a better idea touse Yaskuesince he’s much more durable than his stealth-friendly counterpart.

After learning about what has happened, you’re able to make your way to theOminesanji Temple. It will be in thesoutheast region of Yamato,south of Yoshinoandwest of Mitarai Valley.

As you approach the temple, Gyoji should be marked and waiting for you to interact with him again. After talking to him, make your way to thebell directly acrossfrom the character.By interacting with the bell,you can start the fights.

You can takebreaks between these fightsto catch your breath. When you’re ready,simply ring the bell again.

There arefive fights, and you’ll need tobeat all of themto complete the quest. If you have gone up againstNobutsuna’s Student side quest, you can probably tell how hard these characters can be. The fighters in The Tournament mission are no exception.

Rewards For Completing The Tournament Quest

As mentioned, this quest is worthwhile for many things. You can learn how to fight better since each opponent has different weapons. However, it’s the rewards you get for downing each fighter that will make you want to finish the challenge.

The rewards you get on your playthroughmay be different from the ones below. These are examples of what you may earn from fighting in the tournament. In any case, what you get will usually be high-quality and powerful gear.

When you beat the five fighters, you’ll get a cut scene showing Gyoji filled with joy about your slaying of the invaders. After that, he’ll be onacliff nearby. You’ll find itnext to the viewpoint, immediately southwestof where the tournament is held.

By talking to Gyoji, he’ll be extremely grateful and tell youthat more tournament challengescould happen. When they do, he’ll reach out to you again. You’ll also earn theTest Your Mighttrophy when you’re done talking to him.
