Summary
According to a reliable insider, Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer is being considered for the role of Princess Zelda in the upcomingLegend of Zeldamovie fromNintendo.
After the monumental success of Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. Movie, it quickly became clear that Nintendo has a big future in the world of movies. It seems the console and games giant saw it that way too,as it not only announced a sequel to the Mario moviebut also alive-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.

Although the Legend of Zelda movie was announced more than a year ago now (and said to be in the works for “many years”), we don’t actually know that much about it beyond the fact that it’s being produced by Venom’s Avi Arad and directed by The Maze Runner’s Wes Ball. It seems that work is picking up, though, as the rumours are starting to fly in about potential lead roles being eyed up.
Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer Could End Up Playing Zelda In The Legend Of Zelda Movie
A Popular Fan-Cast Potentially Made Real
As reported by NME, reliable movie insider DanielRPK recently shared an update regarding The Legend of Zelda movie on their Patreon, which discusses one of the lead roles being eyed up by Nintendo and Sony. While you might think I’m talking about the much-memed Tom Holland as Link, it’s actually Zelda that Nintendo is starting to consider.
According to DanielRPK’s post(which is paywalled but has started making the rounds), Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer is reportedly being considered for the role of Princess Zelda in the live-action Legend of Zelda movie. That’s especially interesting considering Schafer is one of the most popular fan-casts for the role, something that she’s even reacted to in the past.

When asked about all of the fan-casts pitting her at Zelda, Schafer said that it would be “so cool”, noting that she’d played Zelda games in the past. It seems that the Euphoria star is very keen on playing the role and, considering how much fans want it to become a reality, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that she’s being eyed for it.
As you can imagine, the internet is already beingreallynormalabout a trans actor potentially being offered the role of Zelda. Go figure.
That being said,DanielRPK makes it clear that she’s only being considered right nowand nothing is set in stone. It’s also still just a rumour from an insider, so it’s not worth getting too excited about it just yet as nothing has been confirmed. If one of the lead roles is still being discussed, it seems that we’re still a ways off from hearing anything concrete.
