The first time you and your teammates arrive at school inThe Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, you’ve barely got time to get through introductions before the alarm goes off and Sirei gathers you inthe War Room- it’s time to head out and fight back!
Invaders are attacking the school shortly into your stay here, but the battle on Day 001 in the Last Defense Academy offers a great chance to get some hands-on combat experience now that you’ve got teammates other than just a very confused Takumi from the intro. You’re in for a surprise out there!

Day 001 Battle Strategy
Wave One: Fearsome Foursome
You’ve said hello to everyone inside and you’ve heard the alarm bells ringing - time to establish a battle plan withTakemaru Yakushiji, Darumi Amemiya, and Hiruko Shizuhara, since none of your other classmates feel quite prepared to take on the invaders just yet. After a sceneusing your Infusers, the four of you will be placed onto the battlefield with your backs to alarge blue spirenear the school’s entrance.
This is the access point for theshield protecting the school, your Barrier Generator, and if the invaders get the Generator’s HP down to zeroduring your battle, you’ll fail automatically and be made to try all over again. Get used to defending your base from invaders, since this remains a common mechanic throughout each of the several school invasions you’ll face throughout the game.

Sirei explains this when you begin, but your goal for the first wave is relatively simple: experiment with the four teammates on the field andget the hang of using Takemaru, Darumi, and Hirukofor the time being, since they’ll beyour main fightersuntil the remaining classmates join the battle.
For a brief overview, you’ll have:
The wave ends in your victory when you’vedefeated all enemies on the field, but you’ll need to try again if theshield is destroyedentirely, or ifall your teammates are killed. Kill as many invaders as you can before they reach the school’s Barrier Generator, since they’ll do damage relative to their size when they land on a tile next to the Generator.
Wave Two: Down A Teammate, Up In Voltage
Following a pretty jarring cutscene, you’ll be back on the team to fend off a second wave of invaders, led by a staggeringlystrong Commander, a boss enemy type you’ll experience several times throughout The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. On the heels oflosing Darumi for the second wave, you’ll have a bittersweet trade-off to learn about in her absence:Voltage.
Your Voltage meteris the number at the top of the screen that rises when you make moves on your turn in combat. When it reaches over 100 percent, which is does when one of your teammates sacrifices themselves, you’ll be able to instruct one of the living teammates touse a Special Attack when Voltage is over 100. This will leave them Stunned and unable to move on the next turn, but they deal a colossal amount of damage in the process.

you may check out Takumi, Takemaru, and Hiruko’s special attack before deciding how to handle the battle. Again, clear all enemies on the field, keeping a special eye on your Voltage meter now that you can use it to perform Special Attacks and bolster your team’s stats or movement range. You’ll earn Battle Pointsfor every enemy killed during the mission, which you’ll use soon toupgrade your teammate’s weaponsbetween missions.
