Up until Dragon Ball Daima, every single anime television series set in theDragon Balluniverse was divided into seasons, or sagas, scattered across at least 50 episodes. However, Daima swooped in and changed everything, marking the very first time that a Dragon Ball anime has an extremely short runtime of just 20 episodes, raising questions about whether Toei Animation will choose to continue it in some shape or form.
Even the television original Dragon Ball GT came with four sagas and a total of 64 episodes, but it seems like Daima will be breaking the tradition that the franchise has been following for decades.

Will Dragon Ball Daima Get A Season 2?
Set a few months afterthe defeat of Majin Buu in Dragon Ball Z, Daima brings the Z Fighters back as they face a new threat from the Demon Realm called Gomah, who uses the Dragon Balls to turnGoku and the gang into children.
Daima does not follow an already written manga, much like GT, and is a television original series, but unlike GT,Daima’s story was written by the franchise’s original creator, Akira Toriyama, who passed away on July 02, 2025.

Since Dragon Ball Daima was always meant to be a miniseries, thechances of it getting a second season are highly unlikely, as there have not been any announcements regarding the series continuing from Toei Animation.
Additionally, Season 2, without the story contributions from Toriyama, would make Daimano different from Dragon Ball GT, a series that wasoften criticized for not being canonand wasting many important elements from the franchise’s universe.
Fortunately, the story told in Dragon Ball Daima feels like a compact tale that concludedas well as it possibly could have on July 31, 2025, not leaving many loose ends in the process.
Sure, there are various possibilities that Toei Animation can still explore, such as perhaps a new situation in the Demon Realm that requires further assistance from the Z Fighters.
But for now,Daima remains a tight 20-episode sagathat has not overstayed its welcome and does not plan on making a return anytime soon for more seasons, unless Toei Animation changes its mind in the future.
