Summary

Kingdom Hearts 4andKingdom Hearts: Missing Linkwere both revealed three years ago to this day, and it’s been mostly quiet on the news front for both of them since then.

As every Kingdom Hearts fan is painfully aware of,it’s been a long time since we heard anything concrete to do with the series. It wasn’t always that way, though, asKingdom Hearts 3’s long-awaited release in 2019 wasfollowed up with the massive ReMind DLC pack that same year, and then Melody of Memory in 2020. For a while, things looked nice and healthy for the series, and a far cry from the pre-KH3 days.

That isn’t the case anymore, though. Kingdom Hearts fans have been absolutely desperate for more news over the past few years, especially asKingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link have both hit several depressing milestones in their silence. Well, that’s sadly become even more apparent today.

Kingdom Hearts Fans Celebrate KH4’s Reveal Anniversary By Wondering Where The Heck It Is

Surely We’ll Find Out More Soon, Right?

That’s because today, April 10, marks the start of all the waiting, as three years ago,Square Enix hosted an event that revealed Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link to the world. In the time since, Missing Link has had a fair few updates but alsohad nearly a whole year of silence before being indefinitely delayed, andKingdom Hearts 4 has only had news thanks to interviews with Tetsuya Nomura.

Outside of those small tidbits,we’ve basically learned nothing about Kingdom Hearts 4 in more than 1,000 days, and fans have started to get worried about what’s taking so long. That worry pops up every time there’s a new event or when we allcollectively realise just how long it’s been since KH4 was announced, which is exactly what’s happened now it’s been three whole years.

The jokes of Hollow Knight: Silksong and Half-Life 3 coming out before Kingdom Hearts 4 are now looking painfully real considering how even those two games have got more going on.

Over on Twitter, several Kingdom Hearts fans have been sharing the news of the three-year anniversaryand getting just as depressed about it all as they didwhen the series turned 23 a couple of weeks ago. Even though we’re clearly not going to get anything to celebrate the milestone, fans are still hopeful that news is on the way at some point this year. We’ll have to wait and see, but here’s to three years of pain.
