It’s been along time since Kingdom Hearts fans have had anything to get excited for or talk about, but that finally changed earlier this week. After suddenlycancelling Missing Link after years of development, Square Enix gave us apeace offering in the form of seven new Kingdom Hearts 4 screenshots.
Those screenshots mostly just gave us anupdated look at the one world we have fully confirmed for Kingdom Hearts 4 so far, but there were some neat details to spot.Mickey being playable and Sora’s updated design jump to mind, but we also got our first look at what Heartless are going to look like in Quadratum, including one that looks a little too familiar.
Is Kingdom Hearts 4 Going To Have A Meet The Robinsons World?
Maybe, Maybe Not, But That Heartless Definitely Seems Like A Nod
In the background of the screenshot of Sora fighting Heartless in Quadratum, wecan see multiple new Heartless with a unique hollowed-out heart emblem. One of those Heartless seems to be a hat-shaped flying creature with a bunch of robotic legs that let it hover around, and it looks shockingly similar to Doris from Meet the Robinsons.
Over on Twitter,moicalu13 shared an image of the Heartless up close alongside a picture of Doris using her legs in a similar way, which makes the comparison even clearer. The Heartless is even shaped like a bowler hat and has a green eye similar to Doris’s right in the middle of its head. The two look incredibly alike, which makes it easy to believe it’s teasing a Meet the Robinsons world.
It wouldn’t be the first time that a world has been subtly teased in Kingdom Hearts 4’s marketing,as a Star Wars AT-ST leg was spotted in the reveal trailer on a world that looked like Endor.
As much as I would adore a Meet the Robinsons world focused on the family’s house (perhaps even the futuristic city as well), it isworth noting that world-themed Heartless usually only appear in their own world. Since this screenshot is from Quadratum, it’s more likely just a similar design or a reference than a hint at a world. Still, stranger things have happened, andMeet the Robinsons has been requested for some time.
