At the start of a standard run ofBlue Prince, especially in the early-game, you’ll probably be focused on getting as many keys, coins, and gems as possible, and making your way up Mount Holly Manor. However, the further you get, the more worried you’ll start to be about your steps.

This resource limits how much you can travel between different rooms, and even though you can get upgrades to increase this stat, it’s always something you’ll need to keep an eye on. However, one of the best ways to keep on top of your steps is to create bedrooms. Some bedrooms are much more effective than others, so which should you prioritize?

8Bunk Room

Unusual

There are some rooms in the draft pool in Blue Prince that always seem to pop up when you don’t need them, and ultimately have a very niche functionality, and the Bunk Room is a perfect example of this.

The gimmick of this dead end bedroom is that when you draft it, the room counts as two separate bedrooms. This is useful for triggering abilities and buffs that are related to how many bedrooms you have, but other than that, it’s just a bedroom that doesn’t have much else going on unless you’re lucky enough to upgrade it.

7Guest Bedroom

Commonplace

The Guest Bedroom is arguably the simplest bedroom you may draft, and it does exactly what you’d hope a standard bedroom to do. Simply draft this dead end room, and you’ll get a ten-step bonus when you walk in.

On top of this, the Guest Bedroom also tends to have at least one item lying around, so if you need more coins, gems, or keys, then there’s a good chance you could get one of these when going into this room. However, being a dead end, this bedroom is only useful if you have other routes forward.

6Boudoir

Standard

The Boudoir initially seems to be a pretty simple room. It has a corner shape, so it’s useful enough for helping you get around the manor, but aside from that, it doesn’t have too much else going on.

However, if you’re keeping an eye out for secrets, you’ll probably notice the safe hiding behind the screen partition by the doorway. This is one of the easier safes to crack since there’s a pretty obvious clue in the room, and by solving it, you’ll get a red letter, as well as a guaranteed gem each time.

5Her Ladyship’s Chamber

Rare

Compared to all of the otherbedroom types in Blue Prince, Her Ladyship’s Chamber has by far the most specific spawn conditions. Not only do you need to be in the west wing of the manor, but you also need the entryway to the room to be south-facing.

If you’re lucky enough to create an entryway like this, and are then even luckier to have this room show up in the draft pool, you’ll get the chance to explore this interesting space. It has a good chance of having items lying around, as well as some clues and puzzles hidden inside. Once it’s drafted, you’ll get an extra three gems if you enter a Walk-In Closet, and an extra ten steps next time you walk through a Boudoir.

4Bedroom

The standard Bedroom, while simple and a commonplace rarity room, also happens to be one of the more useful. Since you may draft this bedroom quite early on in your run, it’s best to try to place it somewhere you’ll expect to be a high-traffic spot.

Of course, you won’t always know where and when you’ll be backtracking, but if you’re lucky enough to predict where this will be and place a Bedroom there, you’ll get an extra two steps each time you walk through it. Being a corner-shaped room, it’s perfect for the corners of the manor, or in an area where you want to adjust your trajectory, and it also happens to have a highlikelihood of items lying around.

Nursery from Blue Prince.

3Nursery

Unlike most bedrooms in Blue Prince, the Nursery stands out for needing one gem to draft. However, if you are willing to shell out for thisearly in your run, it can help you massively.

If you get the chance to draft the Nursery in a dead end spot near the beginning of your run, you’ll then get a bonus eight steps every time you draft a bedroom afterward. This means that the Nursery is one of the best resources for keeping on top of your steps, but is also pretty useless to draft later on in your run.

2Master Bedroom

Similarly to Her Ladyship’s Chamber, the Master Bedroom has quite niche spawn conditions, since you’ll need to be in the upper half of the east wing, but it’s arguably even more worth seeking out.

Not only will you find some pretty useful collectibles and items lying around in this room, but it will also give you an extra step for every room you have already drafted. Since this room usually only spawns so late into a run, you’ll likely have most of the room slots filled, so this is a great way to get a significant top-up to carry you through to the end.

Servant’s Quarters from Blue Prince.

1Servant’s Quarters

The Servant’s Quarters stands out from most of the other bedrooms, since instead of having an impact on your steps, it helps you with your keys. Keys are one of the most valuable resources found in Blue Prince, since the later into your run you are, the more common locked doors will be.

So, if you save drafting the Servant’s Quarters until later in your run, you can get an extra key for every bedroom that’s been drafted. This will usually give you enough extra keys to get through to the end of your attempt, or at least stop you from running out of keys. It also happens to be one of the scenarios where drafting a Bunk Room will actually be useful.
