Almost a decade after the last all-new installment in the series,Mafiais back, or at least it will be very soon. Rather than follow the chronological path Mafia has taken since 2002, the next game in the series will go on a detour to The Old Country. Not only willMafia: The Old Countrybe a prequel, as you might have guessed, but it will take fans of the series way back in time to an early 1900s Sicily.
All three prior Mafia games have had an urban backdrop, taking place in a city that’s reminiscent of Chicago. The Old Country is, naturally, going to be very different. Its trailers have shownlead character Enzo tearing through lush Italian fields in a classic car and exploring caves. We now knowthe next Mafia game will be here on July 20, 2025,and everything you need to know about pre-ordering The Old Country can be found below.

There are two editions of Mafia: The Old Country to choose from, and both of them come with a pre-order bonus -the Soldato Pack. It’s not entirely clear what the pack will include, but2Khas noted it will have “distinctive cosmetics” and “a helpful Charm”. You will naturally need to buy the game before its August 8 release date if you want that pre-order bonus.
While the standard edition of The Old Country only comes with the game and a pre-order bonus, the deluxe edition, which costs $10 more, includes a little more. Two additional packs -the Padrino Pack, and the Gatto Nero Pack- and digital versions of the game’s artbook and soundtrack. No word of the next Mafia game getting a collector’s edition yet, and at this stage, it seems unlikely that The Old Country will be getting one.

$50 For A Triple-A Game, In This Economy?
Some Of 2025’s Best Games Are A Lot Less Than $80
Nintendoshocked the video game industry this year by revealingits first Switch 2 game, Mario Kart World will be $80. WhenXbox announced it will be following that trendbefore the end of the year, it felt a little like the start of a domino effect. That will, unfortunately, be true to some extent. However, there are a lot of big games that have launched and will launch this year that cost significantly less than $80, and Mafia: The Old Country is one of them.
The standard edition of The Old Country is just $50, and even its deluxe edition is $20 less than what will likely soon become the industry standard for new triple-A games. Rather than worry about whether that’s a reflection on its content, be happy that big games are coming out that won’t cost $80, or even $70. Also worth noting thatBlue Prince,Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, andSplit Fictionwere all significantly cheaper than $80 and $70, and they’re three of the best games released this year so far.
