Summary
We just got another look atMario Kart 9, giving us a better look at its gameplay and a title: Mario Kart World. This shows us how the racer will look on the Switch 2, and the improvements that have been made with this beefier hardware.
This comes as part of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. As well as giving us a better look at the next-gen console, the Direct also showcased some of the games that we’ll be playing when it launches. Naturally, Mario Kart is part of the lineup, because it wouldn’t be right to launch a new Nintendo console without another installment.

We Finally Have A Proper Mario Kart 9 Trailer
The next Mario Kart game is called Mario Kart World
After the trailer, Nintendo gave us even more details about Mario Kart World. This includes new gameplay modes, abilities, outfits, and weather effects. The latter will affect the gameplay too, so the same track will play differently depending on the weather and the time of day.
Mario Kart World will launch on the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2, making it the first confirmed launch title for the console. They will both launch on June 5.

Mario Kart World was the first title confirmed for the system, as this wasseen being played on the Switch 2whenthe console was revealed back in January. This didn’t give us too much to go on, however, just confirming that the game exists and will be available on the Switch 2.
The last Mario Kart game wasMario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which stands out for being developed by Velan Studios rather than Nintendo, and for using real-life toy cars that you race around your home. This meant that you built your own tracks using the space around you, but still controlled the kart with the Switch. Before that, the last traditional release in the series wasMario Kart 8 Deluxein 2017, an upgrade of the original 2014 game that was exclusive to the Wii U.
