However,Nintendofans will be looking forward to first party games likeMario Kart Worldthe most. The biggest new feature in the title is the free roam mode, which will allow your friends and you to drive across the entire combined map at leisure, exploring various tracks and regions. Of course, this map will feature a number of secrets.

Mario Kart World Features Bonus Secret Vehicles All Over The Map

As pointed out bymadson Twitter, the free roam mode will feature certain secret vehicles that you’ll be able to commandeer and drive around in its massive world. During a recent hands-on event, they came across a hovercraft in the middle of the sea. Simply driving into it lets them seamlessly take control of it and ride the waves.

It seems that these bonus vehicles will also be available in certain races, as the comments suggest, giving you access to a new part of the track, and possibly even an advantage. Other comments noted that there’s also a semi-truck that you can find and drive around. However, since your base vehicle can also drive on water, it’s unclear what advantage these vehicles will give you.

In races, they might let you use an otherwise inaccessible shortcut or give you a boost or power-up of some kind. Either way, the seamless nature of it, and the fact that they drive a bit differently than the regular karts is a nice little touch by the devs to make the open word seem a bit more interactive.

Our ownEric Switzerwrote abouthow Mario Kart World hasborrowedsome features from popular games, like the rail grind from the Tony Hawk series, wall-running (driving) from Titanfall, and Knockout Races from Need for Speed. Not that there’s anything wrong with it – they perfectly led to the next generation of Mario Kart.

In allowing us to commandeer these vehicles in the massive open world, Mario Kart World may have borrowed from another popular series, as a comment pointed out – “Multiple playable characters, driving, open world, hijacking vehicles. Close enough. Welcome Back GTA V.”
