Summary
Marvel Rivalsis in a very good place right now. Despiteclaiming that it’s not here to steal Overwatch 2’s lunch,it’s doing exactly that, cementing itself as the defining hero shooter of the current generation. Of course, most of this is to do with the great gameplay, balanced characters, and healthy content calendar, butthe beefy backsidesand great cosmetics also help.
The folks at NetEase know what they’re doing, and haveeven doubled down on the cakein a recent update. However, it seems that a recently launched skin for the Master of the Mystic Arts has created a bit of an uproar. The Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness skin brings the zombified version of the Doctor to the game. However, it looks very different from what’s advertised.

I Need Hands!
The skin in question is one of Doctor Strange’s multiverse variants from the MCU’s Multiverse of Madness, where he’s a zombie and has multiple zombie hangs coming out of his collar. The game’s adaptation looks really cool. However, once you buy it and use it in the game, the extra zombie hands, which are undoubtedly the selling point of this skin, seem to disappear.
Of course, this didn’t go down well with people who bought the skin for $25. All the promotional material and even the storefront leads you to believe that you get the skin as advertised. However, one bought, the skin does not include the added effects of the zombified hands.

“The fact that at every point in the shop they show the hands , EVEN when using different emotes or MVP, but they are not present in game, is truly misleading marketing,” said a post byGideon119on the Marvel Rivals subreddit.
“I’m not twisted up about the hands not being present all the time. I’m twisted because on every piece of paid marketing I’ve seen, the accompanying picture has arms out,” said one of the comments. Even their own Launch button page has a scrolling advert with an arms out Strange. This is Misleading at best, false advertising at worst."

However, some fans hope that NetEase will address the issue, as it has acknowledged and acted on community complaints before. It’s unlikely that the hands will be added to the skin now; perhaps a price drop and some compensatory currency will go out to those who bought it.
