It’s already a great week for Elder Scrolls fans, the long-rumouredOblivion Remasteredreleased suddenly without a marketing cycle. As you read this, over 150,000 players are currently reliving their cherished moments on Cyrodiil,nineteen years after the game originally released.
Oblivion’s predecessor,The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, is a likely candidate for a future remaster. However, for now, players are constantly finding new ways to reinvent the 23-year-old game with mods. After all, The Elder Scrolls is the mostmodded series in existence.
Tamriel Rebuiltis an incredibly ambitious modding project that’s been in development for over 20 years. The mission of the mod is to add every region of mainland Morrowind to The Elder Scrolls 3, which is wholly set on Morrowind’s inner island of Vvardenfell.

The team has made great strides over the past couple of decades, adapting most of Azura’s Coast and the West Gash. Morrowind is a massive area, so fleshing out every region is a massive task for a team of volunteers.
The Tamriel Rebuilt team recently announced Grasping Fortune, the next major update for the mod that extends the map as far as Cyrodiil’s southwestern border (nice spot,PC Gamer). This extension will include the city of Narsis, the seat of House Hlaalu, which can be visited in The Elder Scrolls: Online. House Hlaalu is best known for being Imperial sympathisers, a stance that fuelled its influence for a long time.
According to a post on Tamriel Rebuilt’sBluesky, Grasping Fortune contains over 1100 non-player-characters for players to meet and interact with. The team has been promoting the update for a while on social media, and its release represents a big milestone for Tamriel Rebuilt.
If you’re playing Oblivion Remastered, the northeast of Cyrodiil borders Morrowind. This is primarily the Valus Mountains, which are found east of Cheydinhal. I’m sure a dedicated roleplayer has wandered to Cyrodill’s eastern border and then switched games to play Morrowind. That’s not a bad idea actually, remind me to install Morrowind.
Tamriel Rebuilt is part of an umbrella modding collective calledProject Tamriel, which aims to create every region of Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. There is no release date announced for Grasping Fortune yet, but judging from the team’s posts, the release is imminent.
