Finding the Thieves Guildin Cyrodiil can be difficult. You’ll seeposters around the Imperial Citydepicting the Gray Fox, and guards will warn you about the mysterious group. Some citizens will even question the existence of the Thieves Guild, butonly the beggars knowthe truth.

To join the Thieves Guild, you’ll need tobefriend aBeggarin the Imperial City. Use the persuasion minigame toraise their dispositionabove 70 before asking about the Gray Fox.

You may need to bribe the beggars with some coin as well, if all else fails.

Once you befriend abeggar, they’ll ask why you’relooking for the Gray Fox. Tell them that you’re hoping to join the guild andwork for the Gray Foxto learn that there’s ameeting in the Garden of Dareloth at midnight.

How To Start The May The BestThiefWin Quest

Head to the Waterfront District, thenmake your way to the outskirtswhere the shacks are. Here is where you’ll find a garden, along withseveral thieves at midnight.

Speak with Armand Christopheto learn that the two others gathered in the garden with you are your competitors. The challenge is tosteal the diary of Amantius Allectus. Whoever gets the diary and returns it to Armand the next night will earn a spot in the guild.

Do not kill Amantius Allectus! You’re athief, not a murderer.

The May The BestThiefWin quest is timed, and your competitor Methredhel will take off running. She knows exactly where to go, so you caneither follow her or ask the beggarsaround for more information.

It’sbest to follow Methredhel, as she will likely get to the diary before you. However, you can stillsnatch it before herif you act fast. Make sure you haveplenty of lockpicksbefore heading out.

Where To Find Amantius Allectus' Diary

Amantius Allectus' diary is in his home,in the Temple District. Once there, make a right and follow the path along the wall to reach his house beside the next gate. Pick the lock on the door and break into his home.

The lock only has two tumblersto pick, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Once inside,creep over to the deskon the first floor andgrab the diary, then flee the home andreturn to Armand.

If you’re fast enough, you can complete the quest the very same night you start it.

However, if youfail to get the diary, your journal will update you thatMethredhel has it. You’ll need to steal it back from her, as she’shidden it within her home.

Find her house in the Waterfront District, near the garden where you meet Armand.Pick the lockon her door and the lock on the chest next to it. Be quick,grab the diary, and return to Armand with it at midnight in the garden toearn your spotin the Thieves Guild.

Where To FindRohssan’s Antique Cutlass

If Methredhel gets the diary and returns it to Armand, you’re able to still join the Thieves Guild. Armand will give youa second chance, this time sending you tostealRohssan’s Antique Cutlassfrom the owner ofA Fighting Chance in the Market District.

This is your last chance! If youfail to retrieve the cutlassbefore the deadline,May The BestThiefWin will fail, and you’ll bebarred from joiningthe guild.

Pick the average level lockon the door at night, thenhead up the stairsand pick the easy lock. There’saguarddog on the other sideof the door, and he’ll attack on sight. If you move quickly, you’re able to avoid killing the dog.

Theguarddog will wake the owners if you linger too long, so get moving!

Head to the right andpick the lock on a very easy chest,then snatchRohssan’s Antique Cutlassand make your way back to Armand in the garden. You’llofficially join the Thieves Guildand unlock your first fence. From here, you’re on your own.
