But there’s more to this chap than meets the eye, and in any case, if you’re looking to recruit every party member, you’ll need to earn his favor.

We’ve jotted down the whole nine yards for Yelv’s recruitment mission. Once you’ve wrapped things up, you will have a brand-new hero on your team, complete with his own little gameplay twists and fun running commentary.

Meeting Yelv Xenoblade Chronicles X

How To Start ‘Meeting Yelv’

Yelv’s recruitment mission, ‘Meeting Yelv’, can be started at any point afterfinishing the Main Mission for Chapter 3: ‘Builders of a Legacy’.

For the record, this holds true for a fair number of quests;Chapter 3’s closure heralds a real opening-up for Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Mission C with Yelv in Xenoblade Chronicles X

Level 14 is requiredin order to get started, mind you, and there’s a fair chance you’ll not be at this level yet once ‘Builders of a Legacy’ is complete. you may either hold off until a couple more Main Missions -not a bad idea, seeing as you’ll be trekking quite a bit here- or you can grind on other quests first.

You don’treallyneed to be the recommended level of 18 for this. The quest doesn’t pose a ton of difficulty, at least not in our view.

Combating Hermit Insida in Xenoblade Chronicles X

In any case, head to the Commercial District in NLA, and you should see a quest marker over onNorth Founder’s Street. The fellow here brusquely introduces himself as Yelv, andhe’s tasked you with three objectives.

Accept his request - not that you have my choice! - and let’s hop to it.

Missions A, B, C

The three objectives are as follows:

Althoughthe approximate locations of the above enemies are noted on your map, you may still find yourself stumped byMission C. This is because, if you follow the map, you may well end upabove Headwater Cavern, in the open field.

To reach Headwater Cavern, you’ll need toswim through nearby Lake Biahno. The entrance to Headwater Cavern isnear the waterfalls.

Headwater Cavern is a destination in two other, later, missions:‘The Ties That Bind’and’Forbidden Love’. It’s good to have this place’s coordinates established early on!

Once you’ve finished Missions A, B, and C,return to Yelv.

Finishing The Mission

After Yelv praises your work, he joins the team.Keep him in your active partyand do as he advises:Head to Blade Concourseand speak withEleonoraatMission Controlfor a cutscene.

You’re giventhree options, butit doesn’t matter which you choose, because you’ll be doing the Reclaimer missionno matter what. To that end, you may as well pick it to make Yelv happy. Not that you’ll get Affinity Points with him yet, but why not, you know?

Now for the tough part, ifyou’re still starting out in your exploration - which is quite likely if you accept this quest right after Chapter 3.Our objective is located in Oblivia, the continent due east from Primordia.

It’s not quite as epic a journey as it may sound like, sinceyou will have already been to the eastern side of Primordia for Chapter 3’s Main Mission. Make your way further east, andonce you reach the perimeter with Oblivia, you’ll be almost there. Just a few more segments in.

Our precise destination is theNorth Coast. Head toward theWhite Whale Debrishere for a fight withthree Hermit Insidias.

We were able to dispatch them rather swiftly, but if you’re struggling, remember thatupgrading an offensive Art to maximum can make a huge difference in its output, and conversely, your overall power, especially early in the game.

Return toMission Controlfor another chat with Eleonora and a cutscene to close out the quest. With everything said and done,Yelv officially joins the party!
