Monster Hunter Wildsfans have been enjoying (and suffering) the game’s first title update for a little while now,along with all the new features the update brought. One such feature was Challenge Quests, which tasked hunters with tracking down and slaying various monsters in a bid to set the best time possible. Leaderboards were even added to give players an even greater sense of accomplishment.
Unfortunately, just like what happens with every leaderboard in an online game,cheaters quickly piled in with unrealistic times, with one person even managing topost a completion time of 0 seconds. It wouldn’t be too bad if there were no rewards for logging certain times, but Monster Hunter Wilds was giving out rewards to everyone that reached the top 10,000 rankings on a Challenge Quest leaderboard.
Of course, that’s a lot of people, but that space being filled with who knows how many cheaters wasn’t making it any easier for those trying to reach those heights. Thankfully, in an effort to combat the game’s cheating problem, Capcom has announced that changes are coming to how Challenge Quest rewards are being dished out.
Monster Hunter Wilds Is Making It Easier To Obtain Challenge Quest Rewards
Starting with the ongoing Doshaguma of the Hollow quest, players will no longer need to attain a top 10,000 spot to obtain the Mark of Mastery pendant. Instead, all players need to do now is achieve an A rank to grab it, while the Mark of Bravery and Marok of Contest pendants require players to just participate in the quest. This method will be applied to all Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests going forward too.
Capcom claims it’s doing this so that every player has “a reasonable and fair opportunity” to grab every event reward that is on offer,and that it is “currently reviewing Arena Quests and Challenge Quests clear times”. If any players are deemed to have blatantly cheated, suspensions and bans will ensue. It’s not a perfect solution, but at least you now have a better chance of grabbing the rewards that you want.
