Summary
Magic: The Gatheringshadow-dropped its latest Marvel Secret Lairon April Fool’s Day, adding Deadpool cards into the mix for the first time. Despite the date, it wasn’t a joke, and neither is the reveal of the Secret Lair’s hidden bonus card.
It hasn’t taken long for MTG’s Deadpool Secret Lair to get into the hands of those who were quickest off the mark and picked some up, and just like most other Secret Lairs to have come before it, there’s a hidden bonus card waiting to be discovered.u/GuillaumeDuNordhas shared an image of Deadpool’s bonus card onthe r/magicTCG subreddit, so if you want it to be a surprise when you get your own, look away now.

The star of the Deadpool Secret Lair is Jeff the Land Shark. A relatively unknown, deep cutMarvelcharacter, although that all changed once the little Land Shark was added to theMarvel Rivalsroster. The adorable little superhero has been popping up left and right since, and now he has beaten some very notable Marvel names into MTG.
Deadpool’s Secret Lair Bonus Card Has Been Discovered
Jeff Is Canon In MTG Now
Jeff’s Secret Lair card is a reskin of MTG’s Harmless Offering, meaning you may use Jeff to make a target opponent gain control of a target permanent you control. In the original artwork for Harmless Offering, it’s a cat being offered up. In Jeff’s card, he’s the offering, and it’s another Marvel character making their MTG debut that’s handing him over.
Rather than have Deadpool holding Jeff in the bonus card’s artwork, Gwenpool has stepped in. That choice makes a lot of sense not only to further differentiate it from the regular Secret Lair cards, while remaining Deadpool-themed, but also because in the comics, Gwenpool and Jeff tend to go together.

Despite not being a pairing in Marvel Rivals (yet), Gwenpool and Jeff usually go together. Hopefully, it won’t be the only time we see Gwenpool on an MTG card, though. There will almost certainly be more Marvel cards to come beyondthe upcoming Spider-Man set, and as was proved this week via the Deadpool drop, new cards we know nothing about could be revealed at any time.
Deadpool’s Secret Lair has quickly followed in the footsteps of SpongeBob SquarePants. The SpongeBob Secret Lairwas not shadowdropped as it was announced ahead of time. There’s also a lot more to it than the Deadpool setwith quite a few bonus cards, all of which have now been discovered.
