Summary
Is a hot dog a sandwich? Does pineapple belong on a pizza? What’s the correct way to hang your toilet roll? These are all age-old debates that we’ll never see answered, and only the explosion of the sun and the end of all life on Earth will stop these questions from being asked. Cats versus dogs is another of these debates, butMagic: The Gatheringis attempting to finally get a definitive answer to this one via a new Secret Lair drop.
Earlier today,Secret Lair announced two new dropsthat are essentially the same in almost every way. They contain the same number of cards, the cards themselves are the same, and they cost the exact same amount. The only key difference is that one them is themed around cats, while the other is themed around dogs.

Magic: The Gathering Is Attempting To Answer An Age-Old Debate
It’s dogs, by the way
These Secret Lairs are understandably titled’Cats Are Better Than Dogs’and’Dogs Are Better Than Cats', and each one contains the same five cards, though the art on them is either of a dog or a cat, depending on the drop you choose. The cards included in each drop are Escape to the Wilds, Rip Apart, Titanic Ultimatum, Arcane Signet, and Basilisk Collar.
It’s then explained that one purchase of either of these drops counts as a vote for either cats or dogs, and the winner will be the drop that has the most sales. To celebrate the outcome, Magic: The Gathering will be having either and All Dogs or All Cats Superdrop at some point in 2026, with either all dogs or cats on all the cards released during that time.
It is a little confusing, especially since these drops don’t appear to be print to demand, so there is theoretically the possibility of a draw happening if both drops sell out. That doesn’t appear to be the case right now though, as while the foil an non-foil version of the Cats Are Better Than Dogs drop is sold out, the Dogs Are Better Than Cats drop still has low stock for the non-foil version at the time of writing. I guess we have our favorite right there.
