TheNintendo Switch 2’s big reveal earlier this month was marred somewhat by the US tariff news that came later that same day.Nintendoquickly canceled plans to open pre-orders in the US due to the confusion, but has now confirmed when they will be available in North America, and seemingly how it plans to offset any additional costs it might face due to the tariffs.

Ina statement shared on its website, Nintendo confirmed people in the US will be able topre-order the Switch 2 starting from June 20, 2025,so 15 days after pre-orders were originally going to begin. The good news is, despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding tariffs, the console’s price has remained unchanged.The Mario Kart World bundle will still cost $499.99, andthe Switch 2 all by itself remains $449.99.

More good news - Nintendo’s first-party launch window games will not be where it tries to make back some of that potentially lost tariff money.Mario Kart Worldwill still be $79.99in the US -which remains controversial- andDonkey Kong Bananzawill be $69.99when released on May 25, 2025. It’s the accessories that can be pre-ordered and bought separately that have been hit with price hikes.

If you want a Switch 2 Pro Controller in the US,you’re now going to have to pay $84.99for the privilege. That’s $5 more than the originally pretty steep $79.99 it cost when it was revealed during this month’s Direct. Spare Switch 2 Joy-Con have been given the same price increase due to the “changes in market conditions”, as Nintendo puts it, withthe price of a pair increasing from $89.99 to $94.99. The full price list for the Switch 2, its first-party launch games, and accessories following today’s pre-order and price increase announcement can be found below.

The Switch 2 camera, which you will need to use some of the newly revealed features in Mario Kart World and play some of the new games inMario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 upgrade, has also been hit with a $5 price increase. That’s the plain black camera shown during the Direct, notthe Piranha Plant version made by HORI. While it’s an official Nintendo product, it’s unclear if the Piranha Plant camera’s price will also be affected by the tariffs.

Not the best outcome for Nintendo fans in the US patiently waiting to place their Switch 2 pre-orders, but probably a deal they would have taken. The wild numbers being thrown around amid the tariff news had some fearing Nintendo’s next console might end up costing as much as $600 in the US, if not more. The console itself remaining the same, already pretty high, price will likely be considered a win by many. If you want to own everything the Switch 2 has to offer, though, it just got quite a bit more expensive.
