A large chunk of theNintendo Switch 2Direct was used to show off upgraded versions of originalSwitchgames.Nintendoconfirmed four Switch games will be getting Switch 2 editions, and now how much it will cost to upgrade if you already own the games on the original Switch has been revealed.

IGN spoke with Nintendo vice president Bill Trinen during one of the Switch 2 Experience events last week, before it was revealedpre-orders for the console will be delayed in the USwhile Nintendo assesses the impact of the newly-introduced tariffs. During the interview, Trinen confirmed those who ownThe Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the WildorTears of the Kingdomwill be able toupgrade to their Switch 2 editions for $9.99.

“For somebody who has bought Tears of the Kingdom or Breath of the Wild, the upgrade packs for those are $9.99,” Trinen confirmed. The VP also reminded people those who have an active Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscription will be able to access the Switch 2 editions of both of those games at no additional cost.

Breath Of The Wild And Tears Of The Kingdom’s Switch 2 Upgrades Will Cost $10

Other Upgrades Will Likely Be More Expensive, Though

Trinen didn’t mention the other two Switch games confirmed to be getting Switch 2 editions -Kirby and The Forgotten LandandSuper Mario Party Jamboree. Unlike the Zelda games, Kirby and Mario Party’s Switch 2 editions will include additional content alongside the visual upgrades and faster load times that Switch 2 owners will get with the BOTW and TOTK upgrades.

As spotted by Metro, the prices for Forgotten Land and Jamboree’s Switch 2 upgrades are alreadylisted on Nintendo’s Japanese website, and they cost twice as much as the Zelda upgrades. While not confirmed, that heavily implies those upgrades will cost $19.99 rather than $9.99.

The entire reason Trinen confirmed the Zelda upgrade prices was in response to criticism of the price reveal for certain Switch 2 games. If you don’t already own Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on the original Switch,it will cost you $70 and $80, respectively, to buy their Switch 2 editions. That $10 price difference will be due to the Switch versions of each costing $60 and $70.

The Switch 2 editions of Jamboree and The Forgotten Land will also be $80 each, further implying their upgrades will cost $20 since that’s $60 for the original base game plus the upgrades. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will also have an original Switch version and a Switch 2 edition, but any potential price differences haven’t yet been revealed, although I’d hazard to guess it will be another $60/$70 situation.
