Summary
While we’re busy jumping from oneOblivionrumour to the next, eagerly awaiting the leaked remake that was supposed to shadowdrop last week, now later this month, ormaybe in June(it’s no wonderthe community is starting to doubt that it exists), one fan has beendemakingthe original, transforming it into a boomer shooter.
u/Sloth_Johnson posted a brief 40-second clip to r/Oblivion, showing off their unique rendition of Cyrodiil, where they wade through a low-res Imperial building andcarve through pixelated Adoring Fansas they chant “By Azura!” in unison. Naturally, it ends with the Emperor’s death, but this time, it’s the player who cuts them down — mid-creepy-dream speech. There’s even a jacked city guard with a sleeveless chestplate, yelling, “You violated the law!” while hurling fireballs with a shotgun.

“I Would Actually Play The Hell Out Of This”: Don’t Hold Your Breath
It’s a fun little video, reimagining a classic RPG in the vein ofDoomandWolfenstein, but don’t expect it to release anytime soon, because it isn’t a playable mod, just a showcase of what a boomer shooter spin on Oblivioncouldlook like.
What we saw was likely the only level, a showdown lasting less than a minute. Even then, it’s far from finished, with the HUD only being added in post. And if it were a functioning mod, u/Sloth_Johnson probably wouldn’t post it online, anyway: “Don’t think I can ever release this sadly, with all of the Bethesda assets and whatnot”.
u/Sloth_Johnson made their Oblivion demake with the Easy FPS Editor (EFPSE).
But fans have suggested that it would be fine as a Doom mod, so long as it isn’t monetised (after all, there are fan-made Simpsons,Sonic, Alien,Halo, andStar Warsadd-ons readily available), while others have implored u/Sloth_Johnson to send them private Google Drive links, doling out the Oblivion demake in a digital back alley away from prying Bethesda eyes.
Granted, they wouldn’t be the first modder to turn The Elder Scrolls into a boomer shooter for a video and leave it at that.Organic Superlube posted a video to YouTubein 2016 that showed Daggerfall recreated in Doom. While they said that they “might revisit it some day”, ten years later, it doesn’t look like they ever did.
