The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’sremake/remaster is now officially gaming’s worst-kept secret, with about 400 leaks pointing to its imminent release. Oblivion is memorable fora lotof reasons, but head and shoulders above all else is the introduction of the Adoring Fan character and his luscious blonde cone-shaped hair.
First encountered as a reward for becoming the Grand Champion in the game’s arena, the Adoring Fan lives up to his name, idolizing the player character and showering them with praise. He’s known for lines such as: “By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! It’s the Grand Champion! I can’t believe it’s you! Standing here! Next to me,” and “Yes, oh great and mighty Grand Champion? Is there something you need? Can I carry your weapon? Shine your boots? Backrub, perhaps?” It’s because of this, adoring fans of the Adoring Fan want him left alone.

Over the last few days, a newthreadhas been gaining traction on The Elder Scrollssubreddit, garnering over 12,000 upvotes and almost 300 comments, with players begging Bethesda to let him be.
“It would be pretty amazing if literally everything else was modernized, then this beautiful b**tard runs up to you midgame totally unchanged,“said LordCaptain, in an opinion echoed by many, like Sunlight_Mocha,who added, “They should leave him exactly like this, graphics and all. He’s beautiful, you can’t improve absolute perfection.”
While the expectations are that Adoring Fan will very much appear in the Oblivion remaster, there are some concerns about him getting a visual overhaul. Arcade_Gann0n said, “God, are they gonna keep that Jimmy Neutron hairstyle? Good luck to Unreal Engine 5, trying to make that look good,” with Volpereuling adding, “the dev responsible for his new design had quite the responsibility on his shoulders.”
The remaster of Oblivion will mark the return of Adoring Fan,who cropped up in 2023’s Starfield, complete withthe same voice actor. This alone is enough to make me excited to jump back in.
